CARB approved downpipe?

I own a 2008 WRX and will probably be moving to a state with CARB emission requirements. I was wondering if anybody knew if only the AVO dp is CARB approved or if there are others? I was also curious if any one in the CARB states has had any trouble getting inspected with any other dp's (Cobb or Perrin for example)? As I dont feel like removing the dp to replace it with the stock one every year.

I think ALL aftermarket DP's are illegal, even catted...so if you're going to mod...get no cat.

^^speaks troof. Slap your stock dp when you get your emissions done..once it passes put any DP you want on.

alot of the high flows will still pass smog...Titek, helix, cobb all pass smog with stage 2 + tune...Just paint it black and mod the stock heat shield and noone will notice the DP is aftermarket

i had headers, intake, agressive tune, full TBE (titek high flow catted DP) and i passed smog great

i have never seen a carb aproved aftermarket dp

There is a dark-horse rumor that Cobb is working close with CARB to certify one of their DP....but this will still be many moons away from becoming reality...as far as i know...all DP's are illegal as everyone has mentioned b4 me....juss hold on to your stock DP juss in case

it is 6 years but it will have to be smogged if you are registering it for the first time in CA

I remember MadDad trying to make a CARB legal dp. I don't think it ever made it though....surprising

No they wanted to make one with a hi-flow cat and a provision for attaching a factory heatshield to make it look stock. This was to fool the visual only.

As others have said, there are and never will be any CARB approved downpipe. Messing with your catalytic unless damaged or over xx,xxx mileage(dont recall exact number but it's up there) only then can you install an aftermarket CARB approved catalytic that will replace your malfunctioning factory one.

Does that make the avo street dp legal? It does have a carb approved cat on it.

I was told by a vendor that the next Helix catted DP will be 50-state legal but can't find anything to back that up. Has anyone else heard similar?

It's a shame that this is such an issue. If the air coming out of the tailpipe is clean enough, who cares what kind of pipe it went through to get there?!?!

Federal Law = no messing with ANY factory catalytic. are you that gullible that a chinese knock off company says they'll meet federal (and state) regulations?
