Default Oil on plug wires 1 & 4

The problem: during a quick change of my plug wires I noticed that wires for cylinders one and four had what looked like engine oil around the top of where the wire covering sits on the engine block. There appeared to be very little oil down towards where the wire sits on the spark plug, the plug tip didn't have oil on it. However, no oil on the plug wires 2 & 3.

The car: 2003 Subaru Impreza 2.5 RS with 67000 miles. New plugs and most tune up stuff in Nov. and I certainly didn't see any oil then.
Last weekend I did an oil change and know that I over filled it a bit, a little above the full while cold on the dip stick. I drained some out some today thinking this might be the problem.

could this simply be from overfilling the engine oil?
indication of something else?

What the hell is going on!!!!??

You probably should've done a quick search before you went draining your engine oil.

It's the spark plug tube seals. Replace them, and the valve cover gaskets while you're in there.

Yeah, that makes more sense.
Thanks.
What causes this? And how serious is this?
Is it a difficult fix?

No, I just drained the level down a little bit so the oil level was in the middle of the dip stick indicator. Not a big deal.

Okay, it's an easy fix and doesn't look to be completely serious just yet.

But what would cause this?

It's normal. They're just rubber seals, and they swell up with oil over time.

Okay, just wanted to make sure it wasn't something I did.

Thanks for your quick response and help.
