I'll start with a little background...
I bought my 05 wrx used in 2006. The car felt great, and I bought it with the intention to mod it for the track and as a daily driver. So far my mods include turboback exhaust, up pipe, intake, intercooler hoses, fuel pump, and cobb accessport. In short, I want more power so I know a 18g td05, front mount intercooler, and injectors are in my near future along with a slew of suspension stuff. I am aware I must be prepared to upgrade the tranny (most likely ppg or sti 6 speed swap) As stated, the car is my daily driver which occassionally sees autoxing, road racing, and the drag strip. My Question: What engine can I drop into my car that will give me a lot of bang for the least buck preferably with the least headache in terms of conversion. I've read everything from people raving that I should just build my 2 liter with forged internals while others say I should do a JDM swap of some sort. Many people have also suggested I do a hybrid build. What will give me the most bang for my buck? I'm looking for as close to 400 reliable whp with headroom to make more if I choose. I've heard tons of people saying I should invest in a JDM spec C block. I've researched quite a bit and I'm lost.

You really need to go to the "Built Motor" section. No stockish motor swap will meet your needs. You're going to have to build something. What you build, just depends on how much money you have.
