Hi all, and congratulations about this great forum. As you notice I am a newby, but very glad to be here.
I own a USDM 1998 Legacy outback 2.5 for a month about, and I like this car. The prior owner, made a swap with a JDM DOHC 2.5 motor, becauce the block of the old motor was broken. As a result, a "check engine" light came to stay permanately, because the EGR option is missing in the JDM machine. I Think I have a poor mileage (22mpg) even I drive in highway (60-70 mph), but not any other serious problem. My question is this one. What is better to do, to change the ECM with one from Japan domestic market, or to disable the EGR, and how to do it? If I have to change the ECM, anyone could advice me where to order a working used one, and if I have to disable the EGR, (I think it's not so simple to do it), a detailed information should be highly appreciated. probably have to disable the EGR ... the jdm ecu will most likely be wired differently
not sure whats its going to take .. putting the solenoid back in or some thing more invasive |
