Wow. That puts things into a little perspective for me. My local SCCA region (Blue Ridge) is having their annual school this weekend and I'm instructing. <gulp>

Glad you were both able to walk away Jon.

Thanks man.

One thing about this - he is/was a model student. This wasn't a problem guy, he didn't have an ego, he wasn't overdriving - we just got caught by a failure. I am actually VERY happy that we were not pushing the limits to the edge, and that we had talked about response in an "emergency" situation.

Remind the students it's still dangerous, that no matter how good you are things can go wrong, and that all of the safety procedures that are in place are there to minimize the results WHEN it happens - not if.

Also.. this was not an autocross, this was a track day program. We were a little above the maximum speeds allowed by SCCA autocross. (and by little, I mean double)

Still though, bad things can happen autocrossing as well, so remember why safety stuff is in place.

^ That'll be a great test for you Pat. Hopefully some of your improvements over the winter will keep the battle close over two days. Good luck!

Congrats Colin on leading Day 1! Also congrats to Martin Kriz, only about 0.4s behind Colin, sitting in 3rd place.

Definitely happy to see Martin doing so well in STU. Looks like Lipsinic had a rough day 1 in DSP.

Kind of a weak tour course. No where to really use horsepower and it really favors light cars. Just look at ST times compared to my times in STU.
