2001 2.5 rs timing belt is looking odd, thoughts?

Hi everyone,

I just picked up a 01 rs 2.5 as a project. I took off the timing belt view panel deal and was a little confused. I have changed tons of belts in other cars, but never a subaru. The person I bought it from swears a timing belt was never changed, he owned the car for 40k miles (out of 140k). The belt looks like a kevlar belt, iam not sure I have never seen a belt that looks like this. I cant find any cracks in the belt, but the top side of the belts looks worn. What do you guys think? Should I replace this? (sorry about the his res, I wanted to show the texture of the belt

normal belt. top side runs on idlers toothed side looks fine. If you had a new belt to compare it to you would see its fine.

well i'd replace it if you cant read the writing on it or see the alignment marks its def due. by looking at the bottom pic i'd say its worn.
