Default Help- frankenstein radiator hose!

So I've got an EJ251 in my RS with an upgraded radiator that I presume fits GC8s (as in actual WRXs). The lower outlet for the radiator is on the bottom corner on the driver's side. Right now I've got a patched together splice of two random hoses I found at Kragen, but I don't trust it permanently. So, does anybody know of a hose part number that will fit? It needs to be a pretty tight S shape. Universal bendy hoses won't bend small enough to make it. Alternatively, I'd be okay with a nice non-plastic 1.5" hose coupler. That's all Kragen stocked and they were the only ones open when I found the leak. I'd have put it off til tomorrow, but I have to head out of town for autocross around 6:45. I'm packing some spare hose bits and a few gallons of water, just in case, though I think this version will hold up after 20ish shakedown miles.

My DOHC 2.5GT has the lower hose on the lower driver side corner of the radiator. The hose may be what you need, as it is S or Z shaped. The Navy for some reason won't let me browse to my website, but if you check www.submariner.org/thepno95 and then go to the Pictures -> Subaru -> Underbody pics (I think that's what the folder is called) you may be able to see the hose. If not there, check the Engine folder, look for files regarding my Samco hose install.

If I log in elsewhere I'll try to remember to come back to this and post pics.

I couldn't get to your portion of the site (I get a forbidden message) but it sounds like what you have will do it. I know there's a hose out there that works for this, I just haven't had a chance to look before today's autocross. As it is, the second version of the patched hose held up. I suppose it will at least last long enough for me to find a metal coupler or the right shape hose.

From pat's site:

Maybe you need WRX rad hoses? The lower one (on the left) is shaped differently from above it seems

Nope, won't work. The EJ251 thermostat housing points forward, directly at the radiator.

Bummer. Of course, if you can't find the hose you need, you could always install the thermostat housing like mine and use my style hose. (Since taking that pic I have upgraded to the OEM oil cooler, so I have the metal water neck with a hose nipple off it for the cooler).

Good to see someone can get to my website, though - when BAN SUVS said he couldn't see it that started to make me wonder if it's not the Navy filtering that's preventing my access, but is instead something wrong with the site.

I'll have to check again, but I remember looking at it and thinking that something would conflict. Maybe the EL header I have.

Yeah, I'm starting to think I figured it out- I stole the t-stat housing from the EJ20 I took out, assuming it bolted the same way. If I get one from an EJ251 I think I'll be able to go back to the WRX hose.

I was gonna say, the t-stat housing on my 99 RS engine points to the right, just like in rougeben's pic.

I think that will fix all your problems.
