I don't know if you can find one for under 4,000 but look at 98 and older impreza rs coupes. Awesome cars, I'd love to have one

Yeah man, I've been trying to find anything reliable under 4k, but I guess I'm looking in the wrong places.

i bet you've already been checking over there, but try craigslist. you'll find a great ad from time to time when someone is trying to unload something quick... usually cheap too.

Wow guys, thanks for all the help + feedback, I seriously appreciate it!

Anyway, a few minutes ago I went onto craigslist and gave it a looksy and came up with something real nice.

1997 Subaru Impreza 2.2L - 72 K Miles, Automatic.

http://newjersey.craigslist.org/cto/1139427265.html

Looks like an awesome first car. I'm liking it a lot. I can see it already-borla UEL headers, Blitz cat back or axle back, Rota G-Force wheels.... lovin' it!!

Once again, thanks for the help guys!

The car in the link is a perfect first car. But the price is way too high. You can find a good condition Impreza like that for under $2000. Good luck and good choice, just don't pay $3600.

Yea dude, agreed. I bought my Leggie for under a grand, and it's wonderfully reliable. Get something for ~2g's or less, and put a grand into it for tires/brakes/whatever is needed.

Don't get something automatic, either... learn right the first time!

Very nice man. That Impreza I found a few posts up is actually not priced bad at all. www.kbb.com has it for $3,700 + in Good condition, hes asking $3,600 and hopefully I could get it down a little more.

I'd be interested in selling my daily driver to a Subaru enthusiast. It's a teal '95 coupe. Automatic with 180k for $1100. I've got three Impreza coupes, no need for that many

Get the '95... take the 2500 you'll save, and buy a wrx drivetrain. Done

95 Impreza insurance, passes OBDI sniffer inspections (up to 95), and it's teal!

I'd love to do a WRX swap or even an STi swap, but I really just don't have the know-how to do that. It would be all me doing the swap, and I can't even load a map to a Subaru (as of now).

Do they even make maps for a '95 Subaru Impreza 2.2L?

Mileage means almost nothing on a GC. The mileage on my last 5 GCs totals over 900k and they were all running solid when I sold them. The 72k coupe is also like 4 grand -_-
I'm sure there's maps for a 2.2L, but most tuning is for the 2.5 and 2L.

^^^ I agree with GC8_WRC and Midnite.... Buy the 95, a WRX engine, and get some of these guys to help you do the swap.

You will LOVE it alot more ^_^

You are probably right man. What I'm really looking for is a potential sleeper that is a daily driver.

So do you think your teal '95 Impretzel coupe could handle a wrx swap or even an STi swap? Is a swap something extraordinarily hard? I'm in college, money is tight, but I do have the summer coming up and I've got time to make money and spend it on my car.

Sorry for all the questions, I am completely clueless and somewhat scared of the whole idea, but it sounds like it would be awesome!!!
