Default best performance headers under 900$

hey there, thinking of replacing my headers once again, went to brentunning the other day and had a few questions. Pretty much what i got was if i want the best power out of my car with headers i should be looking at Invidia Equal Length Race Exhaust Manifold instead of the Tomei Equal Length Exhaust Manifold.

The reason why i was considering tomei was for the simple fact that its a 700$ headers that comes with an up pipe. How ever The invidia does not and its 800$ for just headers and ill have to get my up pipe separately. I might also need a new oil pan if i get the invidia , not 100% sure but i might of seen someone say you'll need an aftermarket one. Also if i get the tomei combo headers/up pipe would i be fine with the up pipe or should i look into getting grimmspeed up pipe? Again ill like to get some good feedback's on this if possible by anyone.

If anyone can give me a hand on which of these would be the best for my 05sti street/daily driven car please let me know. I cant find any real reviews on the invidia besides the fact that there a great company as well as the tomei.

i have also been looking at the Perrin Big Tube Equal Length Header but theirs only a few reviews on the headers, im a big fan of perrin and grimmspeed just not 100% sure if the perrin headers are worth the money or not. On top of the fact that they might not give me as much gain as the other two i posted about. If anyone has these headers can you let me know how they are and what feedback you can give about them.

Current mods on my 05sti:

Tomei Expreme Ti Titanium Catback Exhaust
Invidia V2 Downpipe Bellmouth
K&N Typhoon Short Ram Air Intake System
Perrin Turbo Inlet Hose Black
COBB Tuning AccessPORT V2
GrimmSpeed Lightweight Pulley Red
GrimmSpeed Boost Solenoid
GrimmSpeed Turbo Heat Shield
Stock headers for now ( due to old headers leaking/crack) <dont get ebay headers

My goal is to reach as close to 400hp or whp as a daily driven car with out having to replace the stock turbo. Any feedback would be nice and ill like to say thank you in advance.

Nick S.: I would personally go with Tomei's option. Hands down the best setup we haev is going to be Killer B but at double the price of the Tomeis the Tomei tends to be an excellent deal for what you get. The uppipe is not goign to make much of a difference to be honest but I feel with the Tomei already including it for the price it is the way to go, the only benefit to switching to the Grimmspeed uppipe would be to run an external wastegate but that is usually not very beneficial until you have an aftermarket turbo and are 450-500whp+

pretty much got my answer from rally support.

I'll chime in on the Invidia headers. I bought the 4-2-1 one piece for my 07 wrx and it will fit IF you adjust the coolant lines that are located under the car and right in front of the headers location. I belive that's all we had to do and it worked but I can't say I'm 100% sure since that was done ~5 years ago. But it was a bit of a pain to get it one piece in but it will fit. Hope this helps.

Yes this helped. We're those the only header you had? How are the headers now?

I sold the car with the headers about 6 months after installing them. So I can't comment on how they are now and they weren't the only ones I've ever had. I also bought a set for my 02 wrx. I believe they were OBX-R headers. They were nice but the Invidia set were a lot nicer.

Luis,

I have the Perrin ELH (not big tube). After install, my baseline read 309hp/372tq (previous tune 308hp/334tq). Also installed at the time were the perrin turbo inlet and 850cc injectors. Final numbers were 312/360. Tuner stated turbo (stock 52) was running out of steam as far as far as hp, and didn't feel comfortable trying to up the tq from baseline due to 1) stock clutch and 2) my end goal being drive ability and reliability (numbers are a reference and don't mean squat when ya cant drive). I finished with 312/360, gaining an avg of 20-24 throughout the entire powerband.

From what I read, these are great headers if you plan on staying under the 350 hp mark. If I ever decide to upgrade my turbo, I would def go with the Perrin Big Tube ELH. Ended up scoring these ELH's for less then $700 (closer to 650) shipped to Hawaii (RSD) on Back Friday last year. I was also debating whether to get these or the Invidia due to 1 piece design (KillerB was out of the price range). Would have been great to have a header that matched my q300, but i'm also a perrin fan, the Black Friday deal sealed the deal on the perrin for me.

great info, im gonna stick to the Tomei EL headers, Once i upgrade aftermark pistons and turbo ill possibly look into getting the Perrin big tube ELH. I got the headers for free so that pretty much sealed everything for me. Ill be buying a EWG set up sometime in July just to be safe. Once again ty for your info ill be posting number and everything after my tune.
