^^^^ it's been awhile since I removed mine, but I think you just pull it out. The prop is bent where it attaches so just work it around until it comes out.

i could only find them on ebay. if u do buy them, i advise to pay for the extra shipping. got mine in 5 days all the way from taiwan. considering the distance, that is very fast. its only like 8 bucks more.

Got my Sokie Tech hood dampers in yesterday and tried to install this morning. I ran into a big fitment issue. As you can see in the pictures they are about an inch too long. They will not compress at all manually to fit right. I've tried moving the top bracket in multiple positions to try and make these fit but every time when the hood is lifted all the way up they are still about an inch too long. I'm sending these pics to the ebay seller to try and get a refund because I'm 99.9% sure he sent me the wrong size. No paperwork or labeling on the packaging signifies that this set is for a 06 WRX/STi; however the auction clearly stated that they would fit. What are you guys' thoughts? Do you think this the wrong size or am I doing something wrong on the install?

BTW I apologize for the way I have the photos. I haven't signed up for a photo bucket yet so I just threw them on an un-used Facebook profile. The photos are public though so they should pop up when clicked. Thank you for any help you guys can provide. I'll properly introduce myself and my car once I have a photo bucket up.

Since you've already brought the issue up with the eBay seller, I'd suggest waiting to see what they say. Maybe they will exchange them with a new set. Mistakes happen. I'm sure you will enjoy them once you receive the correct parts.

sounds like they sent you the wrong size. Mine went in relatively easy. i hit a small snag when putting the hood struts in. Probably because it was night time when i installed them (could not wait to install them). But its been over a year now and they still work great.

noob question: I've been taken a look at their auctions on e-bay and it says it fits on GDB and GDBF WRX http://www.ebay.com/itm/Subaru-Impre...96e5c8&vxp=mtr

I have a 2006 WRX wagon and I'm affraid to have the same issues that J. Muck had on his order. The VIN number of my car is something like GGG, maybe it will not fit?

Do not get caught up too much with the chasis codes. 2002-2007 wagons are the same except for a few things. I bought my sokie tech hood dampers from the same seller you just got yours from. its good to ask and make sure tho. cant wait to see the pics.

So, I think it's my turn to post a review of these hood dampers! Bought in Christmas, shipped in Dec 26th and delivered in Brazil in Jan 17th, I thought it was pretty quick considering our slow customs process.

I bought the basic model, 60 bucks with shipping http://www.ebay.com/itm/Subaru-Impre...item337f44c33f

no fitment issues, install took about one hour because I spent some time searching for the correct tools and more time to put the security pin back. The first damper took about 50 minutes and the second one took 10 minutes

No fitment issues, no clearance issues, my sister was very impressed with how it looks stock, without any hard mod to install it.

The dampers looks very strong and can hold the hood without worries. Maybe the brackets fixed in the hood could use two screws.

Let's see how much time they will work, but I'm pretty happy with these.
