Shocks are decent. Will plug in some numbers and get cranking.

they'll "fit", you'll need dampers (09 WRX+) though, same w/ the 08 WRX guys- even the stock 09 WRX springs would be too stiffly sprung for either damper

Any info regarding the dyno numbers for the dampers?

Ok so the reality here is the 09 shocks are MAXED from the factory with the OEM rates. They are very matched with no headroom like the STI shocks have. I have bought shocks, hacked the front to work on our Roehrig dyno and they just wont be able to handle really ANY increase in rate. Period.

I dont believe in increasing the rate 10lbs, making it more progressive and lowering it within a few mm of the bump stops. YOU WILL see other companies that do this and it WILL feel like crap. FOR SURE. If it cant be functional no need to make it.

On a brighter note...........our STI springs will work with the Koni inserts that are probably in the works already for the 08-09 WRX. So thats the deal. Buy some Koni's and call it a day OR be happy with the 09 OEM setup.

Trust me if it worked we would make it.

Thats the long and short of it.

I really appreciate the response we got from this. I wish we had some mega oem press machines to make some OEM shocks with good travel and good valving and oh...affordable. Man wouldnt a 2 way fixed perch be the BOMB !!

Myles- it's much appreciated by the community that you took the steps to purchase, hack and test the oe units AND the integrity to say what no one really wanted to hear too bad. You and I both know that very likely no one else is going to even consider doing that. Get some springs, provide a drop and pick a rate out of the air- is unfortunately not that unusual

I got to peek at the dyno's and agree completely w/ Myle's assessment- the dampers are fine w/ the oe springs, but they didn't build in any extra rebound/compression for firmer (or lower and firmer) springs. Evidently that is not the case w/ the Showa inverted dampers for the STi, thus the success w/ the RCE GR springs.

As Myles mentioned, Koni is probably going to be an option (I should know pretty soon )- the damping is MORE than ample in the units I have.

Thanks Mike.......I had high hopes too and was disappointed to say the least.............But with that said..................we would love to do some 08 WRX sways....esp with our GR STI bars in the works already. So if anyone is interested let us know.

Great info RCE.

So, with the incoming Konis - would the RCE STI springs still work on the WRX w/konis even with the spring length discrepancy?

We will have to see how the Koni's effect this smidge of a difference. I mean its "secure" in the perches, so this could make it better or a hair worse. None the less, for that we can make a special spring to be honest. The Koni's are capable of some MEGA rates, so who knows....we could go up ALOT in rate.

Weird that the shocks/struts you got aren't made by showa, Mine are both front and rear. See pic that clearly shows Showa stamped on them.

Dude do me a favor............take the part # off of those. We cross referenced this at 3 different Subaru dealers. Plus I will take a super close look at the shocks I have AGAIN.

email me the part # of the rears if you can.

Trust me I will be ALL Over them tomorrow. I just wonder WHY all 3 local dealers showed the same part # that I ordered.

well the good thing is ....if this is a goof...then its a GREAT GOOF !! Because hypo....the "correct ones" would be able to handle more and then I can save all my info I had in mind for these.

On the flip side if they did send me the WRONG ones...I will send them all large "FAIL" stickers.
