Default Removing weather stripping on a lip

I picked up an OEM 3 piece lip for the bugeye in the wrong color and I want to paint it. However, the two side pieces have a little strip of black rubber weather stripping around where the lip comes in contact with the fender. Is there any particular way to remove this easily without damaging the lip or the stripping so I can paint the lip sides and then reinstall the strips?
