Unhappy 2001 2.5i base Impreza, Blue smoke!

Yes, I searched before posting. 2007 Subaru Impreza 2.5i NON TURBO. My neighbor stopped me today as I drove up the hill (engine was cold). He said big plumes of blue smoke was coming out of my car - my hill is steep but I rarely go over 4,000 RPM up that hill. I'm a bit worried about this. I phoned my dealership and they were pretty well useless. I'm going to see if I can capture this on video camera before I bring it in. Any advice/experience? I get the car serviced regularly (ie. Oil changes, etc...).

blue smoke means your burning motor oil... Since its MY07, it is still under their warranty. So bring the car to the dealership and tell them to find out what is wrong.

your definatly burning oil if there is in fact alot of blue smoke.

most likely a broken piston ring.

probably overfull. The Boxers are bad about coughing up oil when even slightly overfull. I keep mine at halfway up the hatch marks.
