Default Mind if I park here? (sometimes I hate people)

I seriously hate this company. they come off as a bunch of pompous pricks. looks like they get it from their leadership. I'm sure a google street view of his house would reveal a very nice neighborhood (a couple blocks from me)

the guy is a typical trust fund spoiled brat

Thirteenth Circuit Solicitor Bob Ariail said Wednesday he has asked the state Highway Patrol to take "additional steps" in its investigation into the crash that killed a man when a prominent Greenville businessman drove his Maserati through a Furman-area home.

"I understand and appreciate the public's interest in this case and can assure you that everything is being done to fully investigate this incident so that it can be prosecuted successfully," Ariail said.

Prosecutors met Wednesday with Highway Patrol investigators "to review the progress of the investigation," Ariail said. “As a result of that meeting," he said, "there are additional steps we have requested they take in the furtherance of the investigation."

The man at the center of the investigation, Ariail said, is 36-year-old John Gilbert Ludwig — CEO of Greenville-based SDI Networks, a former Furman University offensive lineman and head of multimillion-dollar fundraising initiatives for the Boys Home of the South charity.

Ludwig — who is currently free on $1 million bond in connection with a first-degree burglary charge last July — was the driver of the Maserati that killed 62-year-old Frederic William Bardsley last Saturday, according to Ariail and court records.

The investigation into the crash continues and could take several weeks, state Department of Public Safety spokesman Sid Gaulden said. Asked for specifics about what happened the night of the crash and the ongoing investigation, Gaulden referred to Ariail's statement.

Repeated attempts to contact Ludwig have been unsuccessful. An attorney representing Ludwig in the burglary charge, Joe Watson, couldn't be reached Wednesday.

Following the crash, the Highway Patrol logged an address for Ludwig as a home on Riverside Drive in Greenville, which was listed on his driver's license. However, Gaulden said, Ludwig has since moved to another residence.

In the July burglary charge, a warrant alleges that Ludwig kicked in the door of a Greenville residence and chased a man inside who had refused to let him in. The warrant alleges that Ludwig returned while the man was giving a statement to police and tried to chase him again.

In the months since his arrest, conditions of Ludwig's bond have been altered, allowing him to travel out of state to Tennessee for business related to his company, SDI Networks, according to judges' orders amending conditions of Ludwig's bond.

Ludwig's bond also was altered to allow him to have contact with his wife and to allow him to take his children to visit family in Georgia for Labor Day weekend last year, records show.

At about 9 p.m. last Saturday, Bardsley was killed when Ludwig's high-performance Maserati Quattroporte ran off Roe Ford Road, crossed a field and tore through Bardsley's home in the Churchill Farms subdivision, Highway Patrol authorities said.

The car plowed into the back of the home and emerged from the front, authorities said.

Ludwig wasn't seriously injured, nor was Bardsley's wife, who was inside the home, authorities said.

So you don't have to steal something to get charged with burglary? Sound like breaking and entering, and asault.

Pass. Fry his ass and crush the car.

If it was a California...well, I'd still be interested in the car. Perhaps a government auction?

No, many states include trespassing into an occupied home in their burglary statutes.

Horrendous, in fact. The "statement" car preferred by elitist prep-school lacrosse dads everywhere. There are so many better 4-doors you could buy with less money.....you could buy an M5 and pocket $30K in savings.

And the damn thing's open

John Ludwig Jr. is back in jail this afternoon -- a mere five hours after his release this morning on a murder charge in the Maserati crash that killed a homeowner.

As Ludwig was signing bond paperwork in the jail that stipulates conditions of his release, the Greenville entrepreneur added two handwritten notes regarding electronic monitoring and the right to leave his home and stand on his porch.

Ludwig was called back into court Tuesday afternoon. Circuit Judge Eugene Griffith said Ludwig was trying to alter his bond and that the action was "almost a thumb in my eye" and a disrespect to the court system."

"My concern is that you don't respect authority ... and I've got a solution for that," Griffith told Ludwig, who was dressed more formally in court than upon his release this morning when he posted $30,000 required of a $300,000 bond Griffith granted yesterday.

Ludwig told the judge that he had been told by his attorneys that he wouldn't be subject to electronic monitoring nor "porch arrest" upon his release.

Ludwig told the judge that he was only writing notes to ensure that he understood the conditions of his bond.

"I want to adhere to every sentence of it," Ludwig told the judge before Griffith ordered him taken into custody.

Circuit Judge Ned Miller will have to decide whether Ludwig has another bond hearing at a later date, Griffith said.
