Default Finally I am going to do my retrofit projector into my blobeye.

I am very excited about doing this after seeing how bad the rebase HID shines everywhere. Worrying that I would get pulled over I did extensive research. I was planning with having lightwerkz do it, but do to the economy, my company has cut our pay and some benefits. I can't wait for the finish product.

Just out of curiosity what projectors, ballasts, and capsules are you using?

May I make a suggestion that will make your retrofit a lot easier, cleaner/ more OEM looking, and more reliable?

While the new lightwerks kits seem to have decent quality parts, there is always a higher frequency of problems with aftermarket ballasts and bulbs than with OEM ones. They are just made cheaper and have little to no quality control. OEM parts are a lot better about this and are tested thoroughly.

What I would do is get a set of Matsu$hita Gen III ballasts to use. Many Nissans and Infinitis use these as well as STis. So not only do they tend to last longer but they will bolt directly to the bottom of your headlights and properly seal with a built in O-ring. All you have to do is drill a hole big enough to pass the ignitor cord through the housing in the center of the spot where they mount. The setup will be exactly like the STis are set up. With aftermarket ballasts you run the risk of not sealing the igniter cord properly, and have to come up with some way to mount them. You can get the gen III ballasts off Ebay for under $100 shipped used or $150ish new. Search for "Nissan ballast" or "Infiniti ballast" I picked up a set on there a few months ago for $55 shipped. Just make sure, if you get used ones, that they have the silver ignitor cords on them. If you need a set of the plugs for then I have a huge bag full of them. I can send you a set for like $10 shipped. Just PM me. Here is a for sale thread where I posted the plugs for sale. There is a pic of the ballasts I am talking about in the thread as well.
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1524029

Then I would get a set of new Philips 85122 or 85122+ bulbs. The run between $50 and $80 on Ebay for a pair. They are probably the best bulbs out there, at least for the money. The + ones just don't color shift to blue as much overtime as the regular ones do. They are going to be a lot better quality than the lightwerks ones. You have probably the best HID projector in existence why skimp on the bulbs and risk light output and longevity.

If you did already buy the lighwerks kit I'm sure you can either send it back or get most of your money out of it selling it in the classifieds.

Almost finish, but I am concern about the projector being hotter. When I use the infinity ballast and bulb, after couple minutes of use to align the lights the projector feels warm. I was wondering if it is going to get hot enought to melt the lenses?

HIDs only run marginally hotter than regular halogen bulbs. The retrofit I did for my Civic the metal housing on the projector is physically touching the rear plastic housing of the light. I have had the lights apart after they were used for 3 months or so and there were no signs of any kind of heat damage to anything. Just make sure the little housing vent tubes on your headlights are not pinched or something and they should be fine.

Thanks. Now all I need is to figure out how to enclose the rear. I had a good setup but didn't work out the way I want since the projectors sits at an angle and it close the the outer round part of the back housing. I that like with anyone else? I originally plan on cutting the stock cover for the H1 bulbs so it gets a good sealing and I have found an abs tube that fits perfectly over that to make it look stock, but it interfere with the projector leaning to close to ones side. It like that on both projector.

read through my retrofit thread to see how i sealed the back of my bugeye headlights

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1482552

i used a 3" rubber pipe cap and trimmed it down a bit. i cut a hole in the back for my igniter cords to pass through. the cords are what holds the cap on tightly.

Here are a bunch of pics from my Civic retrofit. I used a 3 inch PVC drain cover pipe and cut the grading off the front of it. I JB welded the pipe piece to the housing that I cut out and then made some brackets to mount my igniter on the back. The ballasts I used are Matsu$hita gen II (which have a really big igniter and a separate bulb plug) like the bugeyes used, but the igniters on these are a bit different. The setup is a little different from what you will need to do but it might give you some ideas.

http://photobucket.com/albums/ss314/...5/Civic%20HID/

If it were me I would get something like what I used and get one of those round 3inch rubber pipe covers like jdubya used but just don't cut a hole in it since your igniter and cord are already inside your light. Just use the pipe to extend the housing and the rubber thing to seal the extension off.

But both of your housing are straight on to mount the projectors. Mine are at an angle. I'll take some pictures later. Plus do anyone knows how to post pictures directly here instead of posting links?
