Default 2006 WRX (18G, 21->16psi) 380ft/lbs trq @ the wheels!

Posting this one for Josh/JO's TR. Some really nice torque at the wheels and whp would've been equally as impressive but we didn't have his EBCS hooked up. So boost tapered down as did the power. Boost logged was 21->16psi. Had boost held it probably would've ended up about 350whp.

The graph speaks for itself. Dyno Dynamics in default mode, no additive corrections! Trying to get him out to the track and see what she runs.

Mods are in the graph. Oh yeah, tuned on regular old 93 octane and lots of AVCS mapping is the way I do it

Todd

I'm surprised you couldn't hold the boost you wanted with a manual boost controller. What brand 18g is it? Is it using a 7cm or an 8cm exhaust housing?

Either way, it looks like a lot of fun. Congrats!

Hey guys. I think the turbo may be from FP. It's apparently a TD06 with the 8CM housing per the owner of the car. I too was surprised that it wasn't holding any better. Coulda just been a car specific thing because normally the boost will hold, even on smaller turbo cars with EWGs. The good news is that he's got a Perrin EBCS that's being hooked up and we may throw it back on.

Is this on a 2.5L? If it is I don't think it would have mattered much whether or not the turbo held boost on the big end if its out of its efficiency range. More boost in that case won't always mean more Hp.

kellygnsd,

The 18 would be fine holding 20psi on the 2.5L. The WG was simply pushing open.

My 18g was fine holding 20psi at redline to but it was so far out of efficiency range at that point that it made no more power than if I ran 15psi at redline so in the end we tapered the boost instead of pumping hot(er) air into the motor.

My point was just because you can physically run higher boost at redline doesn't mean you always should.

^^^ LOL

I doubt Josh will shift the piss out of it so he'll probably be good. I made nearly 400whp for a long time on a WRX 3.9 FD tranny and never demolished it from the torque. Hard, snappy shifts are "normally" the way they let go.
