98 vs 99 2.5 RS differences.

I read the sticky that had the differences year to year and there didn't seem to be too huge of a difference in the two years(slightly quicker and crappier MAF). But I see a lot of people advising against getting the 98 if unless it was a killer price and to get a 99 instead.

I am in the market to get a 2.5RS for a new DD and they are hard to come by, at least in my area. So what are the reasons people advise away from the 98? Passing on a good 98 could lead to me waiting for months for another good one to come up.

the 98 and 99 also had different front end looks. 98 was MAF 99-01 was MAP. I Belive they were still the same motor. but if you want that agressive front look then you want a 99-01 if you want it to look like an L with a Hood Scoop then get a 98

98-DOHC which had the headgasket issues. 99-01 SOHC. 98-99 were coupe only, 00-01 were coupe/sedans.

00-01 got the rear vlsd too.

interiors are different pattern on the 98
Gold wheels only came in 98
crystal headlights on 99-01
