Default Morette HID Help - back to stock?

ok guys, I need help with a few things. I recently purchased an 02 WRX and it has a set of Morette HID headlights on it. I like them but think I'd like to go back to stock/koji'd/black housed headlights, they're just too aggressive for me. I'm a complete lighting and subaru noob so please pardon me if any of these are dumb questions.

1. First off, how much are these worth? Only web site I know of that has them for sale new has the HID Morette's for $1500. I see regular kits on here go for about $650, but none are HID. Someone give me an opinion on what I should post these up at.

2. What do I need to do to go back to stock lights? Is there any wiring that needs to be done? Or can I just get a set of stock headlights, take out the ballasts and Morettes, and put the stock set on?

3. Any way to figure out what these ballasts are from? They're BMW obviously, just not sure what from.

3. If I wanted to keep the HID lights, is there anything besides JDM projectors that would work? I know the beam pattern would be horrendous with the HID lights and the stock headlights so I don't think I'd want to do that.

4. If I ditch the Morettes do I need to change grills as well? I would assume so. Is there a way not to? I really like the grill thats on there now.

I think that's all for now. Like I said, total noob so keep the bashing to a minimum please lol. And the easier the answers the better. Any help with one or all of the questions is greatly appreciated.

Below are some pics to for reference(No, the housing is not burnt. They have a protective cover on them so the projector doesn't get busted since they're imposisble to find):

Those are standard Hella ballasts. I'm sure these aren't factory HID Morettes, just halogen ones with HIDs installed. There were genuine HID Morettes but they were very rare in this country, I don't think any US-based Morette dealers ever sold them here. Without seeing a pic of the back of the lights and bulbs I can't tell what is in there, you either have rebased aftermarket bulbs or D2S bulbs with centering adapters.
Forget about putting the HIDs in your stock lights, they won't work in a 9007 configuration and anything you did to "make" them work would produce awful lighting. There really isn't any way to put HIDs in the stock lights and make them work well, see the HID FAQ up at the top of this forum.
How easy it will be to go back to stock lights will depend on whether the Morettes were installed with harness adapters (which would leave the factory harness and plugs intact) or the factory plugs were cut off. If the former, it should only be a matter of removing the Morettes and plugging in a set of stock lights. If the latter, you have a bit of rewiring to do. Either way, you will have to obtain a new set of the body-color side grille pieces. The center grille you have should still fit.

ok, so basically aftermarket HIDs in halogen headlamps. Talked with the guy who owned the car and he says "they are hid's the have phillips d2s bulbs with h7 hella house adapters. the harness is plug and play."

So I would assume that it looks like he used a harness adapter? What should I be looking for if they are factory plugs?

I think ballasts go for $125-$150 or so from what I can see. So maybe $700-$800 for the entire set up? Still not quite sure what to ask.
Thanks for the info.

It should be obvious whether the factory 9007 connectors are still intact on the harness or if they've been cut off. If they're unmolested you can just plug the stock lights back in.

sure. I can try and take some wednesday night and get them up by this weekend provided my work schedule doesn't go in the ****ter. I will tell you that these don't have the best light pattern. I think the previous owner threw them in there with little to no adjusting. If I was keeping them I'd definitely spend a few good hours trying to dial them in a little more.

projector lenses are not burned, just the plastic covering protecting them. Thanks for your concern though.

it took me a few tries to finally get mine adjsted properly....especially the high beams. i made another thread seeing if anyone would post light output pics. i dunno if you already saw, but i used your pic as an example. thanks. sometimes the light output seems to strange i just wanna ensure the pattern and coverage is what it should be.

What are the burned marks on the lenses? that could be affecting the output... I have HIDs in mine and the light output is wonderful. on par with my buddies BMWs

they have a thick plastic film over them so something doesn't crack the projector since they are impossible to find so it's not a burn mark on the actual lens itself. If I was keeping them I'd re do the film but I will leave that up to the new owner.

Dict, yeah I saw. Hopefully the pic helped. Did you get yours adjusted right? If you still need a pic of mine I can probably get one this weekend. Can you send me a pic of yours? If I end up selling these things it might be helpful for the new owner.

the lens is impossible to find a morette replacement yes, but a mazda tribute fog light also has a 105mm diameter across the front of the lens, 115 across the back and fits in perfectly to the morettes with one small modification
