Default Bertone Mantide May Enter Limited Production, Cost AU$2.7m

Quote:
Weíve marvelled at the astonishing bodywork of the Jason Castriota-designed Bertone Mantide supercar, but up until now we havenít yet had an inkling of just how much such a beast would cost.

Considering itís an all-carbon bodyshell and a bespoke interior that sits atop the Nordschliefe-conquering Corvette ZR-1ís underpinnings, we guesstimated the pricetag would be pretty hefty. But how hefty? Try just under AU$2.7 million.

Thatís a buckload of cash for a car thatís based upon something as prosaic as a Chevrolet, but with Castriota himself speculating that Bertone may decide to build as many as ten examples of the Mantide, youíd be paying for the sheer exclusivity as well as the car itself.

Right now, it appears the Mantide may be heading the limited production route rather than being just a one-off museum piece. Castriota says thereís been considerable interest in the car from Asia, Europe and America.
Hmm, we may yet see more of these insectoid supercars running around the globe.

It's looks like someone re-engineered the Aztec. This is a prime example of just because it's fast doesn't mean it looks good.

I think this car is one of those complex designs where you have to see it in person to actually "get it". I've been told the same about the GTR also, that you have to see it in person for it all to make sense.

Ironically same applies with Subaru cars also as of late.

This car seems pretty in the same vein as an Enzo, which in of itself doesn't make much sense in pics until you actually see it in the flesh, then you are sold.

Reminds me of the Pontiac Rageous...maybe if Pontiac made that car they'd still be around.
