05 sti
tranny was dropped and reinstalled reverse lights workin every gear, but they go off in neutral.

open the trunk and move/swap around the reverse and brake bulbs...you should have enough play without having to cut or adjust the harnesses

The wiring for the neutral and reverse switches on the trans may have been swapped when it was reinstalled. I'm not even certain this is possible with the connectors and switch locations but the symptoms point to it.

Either that, or you have a bad reverse light switch. Check into both and I bet one will be your problem. |

any word on this?
I'm having the same problem after I had some synchros replaced...I checked all the connectors on top of the tranny, all of them are connected, and you can't connect them to the wrong ones. Is it possible the switches were installed incorrectly on the tranny? |

I think that it is possible I think thats what was up with ours. I could be wrong. I mean yeah the connectors go white to white and black to black

there is 2 connectors that go into the tranny one white one black. switch them around they were put into the wrong holes.

now, I should have room to do this without having to drop the tranny again, right? ![]() it'll be good to get this back to normal, I think it was keeping my UTEC's launch control/flat shift limiter from working like it should! |
