Just got the press info and photos from this one. The Motul GT-R finally won with the PETRONAS TOM'S SC430 coming in 2nd in the 500 class. In the 300 class; the ARTA Garaiya took back the lead from the DAISHIN ADVAN Ferrari to win. Full report and photos here!

What are the rules in that series? Between the Impreza I've seen run before and that GT-R... they don't really look anything like the street going version. Is it like Grand-Am where some cars are allowed to be tube frame silhouette racers while others are production based?

the GT500 class is like GT1 in Le Mans..u keep the center section of the car, but can cut off the front and rear of the car and make it tube framed...
I think they are the fastest GT type cars out there..faster than GT1 (or used be at least). But you can have diff engines and drivetrain layouts than what came on the regular car. (ie V8 NA GTR's and turbo longitudinal engine'd NSX's GT300 I don't think u can cut off the front and rear of the car..but u can chop/channel the car and change engines/drivetrain configurations.... (ala the RWD toyota celicas, our beloved STi that is chopped/channeled..and w/ a wierdo AWD layout) |
