Default Whats this I hear about UTECs causing damage?

I heard the UTEC doesn't have the ability to adapt to changing air/fuel temperature. Therefore it can cause engine damage.

Has anyone else heard about this? Is it true? Has anyone ever had engine damage while using a UTEC? Are UTECs unsafe because of this?

The UTEC has a Temp compensation table where you can make adjustments for variances in AIT, Coolant Temp, etc. I'm sure that people have damaged their engine with a bad tune. The UTEC gives you the potential to extract a lot of untapped power, but also gives you the ablitity to blow your chit up.

I have in my STI the very first "STI UTEC"ever made. I have had 3 different turbo's and almost 5 years with the UTEC in my car with temps down to -45f and still it runs perfectly.

The Utec doesn't cause damage, the user of it does. Truth well known by users of the UTEC
