Smile 2004 STi VF39 - Dyno Overlay of catted vs catless (plus othter mods) and EQ Tuned

I thought this was pretty interesting. Before and after tunes with mods: originally had my 04 STi tuned in October of 2007 with the following mods:

TurboXS turbo back with high flow cat (standard TXS muffler)
APS turbo inlet hose
APS TGV deletes
Walbro fuel pump
Stock VF39 turbo

2007:
272 whp
294 ft-lbs

* stock STi puts down ~ 225whp on this road dyno software

Now:
285 whp
316 ft-lbs

The second graph is with the same mods as before, plus:
Hallman MBC
APS 65mm CAI
APS uppipe
Race pipe (fully catless now)
Spark plugs

Here is the overlay:

The mods and retune added 22 ft-lbs and 13hp but the overlay shows the real story, more power throughout every rpm of the powerband! I thought the overlay was really interesting and wanted to post it up for all dyno graph nerds to check out The car feels amazing, much different than before - many thanks to Ed! And damn the intake sounds pretty crazy! I never knew how loud these suckers were... not quiet!

Forgot to mention this is 91 octane.

It was also tuned on a ~ 98 octane blend (ran down the gas until the light came on, then added a five gallon jug of Sunoco 100).

This one is awesome and there is more power left on the table. We were pegging the stock boost guage and stopped at the ECU max boost which was around 22psi I think. I could add a boost gauge and higher octane fuel to hit ~ 400 ft-lbs but at this point I'm very satisfied. If I do anything else it would be some kind of GT30 turbo, IC and injectors (lets hope for a big raise!).

You shouldn't lose much just by adding a cat. In this situation, the customer added a CAI and an MBC which accounted for most of the gains. The catless section certainly helped as well, but not as drastically as it may appear.

Thanks
