Hey guys I posted a while ago about getting some prodrive UK300s for my bugeye and just found these guys online. They're offering an H9 Xenon HID kit with everything for 70 bucks. Would that work with the projecter lamps in the UK300s? or are the bem patterns still going to be screwed up?
Here's a link to the kit for 70 bucks... http://planethid.com/h9-hid-kit9.html

Will a H9 size bulb work on a UK300 projector? Well, it depends on what size does the projector require the bulb size to be to make it fit. But here is one thing I do know: ALL (and i repeat, ALL) HID kits do not have proper optics. Notice your suggested bulb size is H9 (the "H" stands for halogen). Using improper optics will give you wacky beam patterns and hot spots. Here is also some keywords to identify them: conversion, HID kit, Xenon kit, Bixenon HID Kit. HID capsules are not Bixenon, the projector is. So just forget about the HID "kit" and go for something more safe and useful. |

After a call to them I found out they (PlanetHID) DO NOT sell phillips kits, they just show them on the site.
Buyers beware. But if you do buy from there... Let us know what you get. Im still anxious to find out how they are. I been contemplating it myself. Last edited by V6TurboTA; 05-08-2009 at 10:33 PM. |

Because phillips don't make kits like this.... get a kit from Lightwerkz.net and pm him here or email him off the site he'll point you in the right direction. Plus you get a lifetime warranty from DDM and lightwerkz on ballasts and bulbs. He'll orient you with your specific voltages and specifications! I would reccommend the 35w 5000K for a nice white lighting upgrade

Well there are specific projector bowl dimensions that make them appropriate for HID or halogen lighting properties. HID projectors have deeper bowls but the halogen projector application is better suited for a retrofit than a reflector so you should get minimal scatter. People will say it will be horrible but really you can just decide for yourself!

HID optics WILL NOT work in halogen projectors. You WILL get tons of glare and a poor cutoff. The HID FAQ goes into very good detail about this, I suggest you give it a read. |

having put hids in prodrive lights the out put wasn't bad, but it wasn't tsx quality either.
you can buy the corect hella 90mm projectors (HID) from rallylights.com and just put in a proper D2S bulb and you would be good to go. this was what i was going to do before i sold the bugeye. |

yeah I saw the projector bulbs for xenon hids are just too much. I really can't afford that right now. So looks like I'm just going to be doing plain ol halogens.

I have H11 size bulbs. I replaced them with an HID kit with 6000K bulbs.
I previously owned an Audi with factory HIDs. I painted the E-code pattern on my garage wall. I now match that pattern. There might be some hot spots, but nobody has flashed me. |
