Default 200hp....

can you make 200 hp @ the wheels on a 2002 wrx with out upgrading the turbo?

exhuast, boost controler,intake,Uni-Chip,and up-pipe...or what else would be needed to reach the 200 hp?

you can get there with a unichip, no problem. On the cheap, though, go for a Scoobysport exhaust (if your goal is 200hp, DO NOT go for a 3" exhaust), cold air intake (do research on which ones cause problems), uppipe, and underdrive pulleys and you'll be at or above 200hp at the wheels.

maybe you missed the part where i spelled it out for you:

Scoobysport Exhaust.

don't shop around. just buy that one. no questions asked. if you don't want to spend days and days researching which exhaust would be best for you and you just want a recommendation based on quality, application needs, etc, just trust me on this one. Scoobysport.

All the other stuff won't matter what brands (except maybe the intake) so just get whatever you can.

Of course the "best" uppipe is the Vishnu. There's no doubt about that. The "best" underdrive pulleys are ones which don't underdrive too drastically or that include a seperate alternator pulley (vishnu or GFB are good ones).

Why not 3 inch? I have the BPM TT and I think the performance gain is pretty good, the looks and sound are great too.

Maybe what nhluhr is saying is that since 200 whp is CarbonWRX's
goal and no more mod there after. The 2.5 inch will give him a little
more low end torgue.

Of couse for someone that is going to go stage 1, 2 and beyond then
better starts with a 3 inch to make use of the turbo, injectors, fuel
pump/fuel rail upgrade, then unichip remap. You looking at 300 over
over whp here.

nhluhr am I on thr right track, since I am also aiming for a little over
200 whp

I was putting down:

197.7hp @6500 (dyno'd at cobb for a baserun)
203.9TQ @3500 "

with just a MBC @ 16psi & 93 octane gas on an otherwise stock car.

Just food for thought. Are you guys sure that just an exhaust will open up that much horse power without any tuning?

do you have any data to support this assertion?
I have a bit that suggests it is not true.

i was just thinking, the vishnu kit only comes with an underdrive pulley. the GFB kit comes with a pulley and an alternater pulley. is it possible to add the alternator pulley from the GFB and add it onto a car which has the vishnu underdrive on it? wouldn't that smooth things out a bit, or would the belts not make it possible to do

it should be noted that cars with turbo's dont benefit down low (ie get more low end torque) from smaller diameter pipes like NA or supercharged cars do. Thats not to say there isnt a 'perfect' pipe for a desired power goal tho.

If you are not planning on doing any engine mods (creating more power) you need to focus on 'freeing up' the power that the stock motor already makes (removing restrictions).

Basically any aftermarket turbo-back will free up alot of power on the WRX and the scoobysport is a great choice.

sorry, but a 3" exhaust (or open dp for that matter) will make MORE low end than a 2.5". This isn't NA.

yes there is. As stated MANY times before, there is NO "best" uppipe. They all do the same thing and make the same power. As long as they seal (which they all do now), that's all that matters. You have choices in finishes and thickness, but you can't see the part anyway so it doesn't matter. Don't say it's the best without proof that it is.

also, who says scoobysport is the answer. He doesn't even need exhaust to make 200whp, much less that brand. The brand is just a matter of preference. The DP type is what matters.

an exhaust won't give you that much hp for the money. by far, the best mod with the best price/hp ratio is a new uppipe. get that, and a downpipe, and a chip, and you're golden. that should put you in the range of just under 200whp or so. the rest of the exhaust can come later when you're doing the bigger upgrades, or you just want that cool sound
