Default missing question

My buddy has a 1999 Subaru Legacy with the 2.5 and it occasionally misses mostly under load and there is no cels. He has replaced the plugs, wires, ignition coil, o2 sensor, fuel filter and is still having the issue. Anyone got any ideas? Fuel injector maybe?

It wouldn't hurt to put a can of injector cleaner in there.

Gotta agree, there is a mysterious tendency to miss and knock in the 94-99 NA cars. Plugs and wires seem to help the problem somewhat. My questions for NASIOC are:

Are there any differences in the ignition hardware between the NA and TC engines?

Are the plugs and gaps significantly different?

Has anyone installed MSD2 or other ignition systems? Did it solve the missing issue? Did it help with detting?

I've seen it a few times. High compression seems like it might be a factor.
