Default New Honda Civic coming in 2011

Quote:
According to the latest reports, the next-generation of the Honda Civic will be officially unveiled in 2010 and expected by the dealers in 2011. Like the current version, the new vehicle will be available in two versions, with 3 or 5 doors. The new generation will use petrol and diesel engines but will also offer a hybrid version, powered by a 1.5-liter petrol engine with 150 hp. Later, the Type-R version will come showing more than 200 hp.

With hot hatches making the upswing the way they are here in the states Honda really should bring over the 3 door type-R.

I like the looks of that rendering, but I would shorten the nose a little and remove the front half of those headlights.

no way Ford, GM, etc can compete with this car, at least for reliability, and mileage and resale value........Honda rocks.

I wouldn't even wait that long. If they bring over the Euro Fiesta and Focus as they are now, they will slaughter the competition.

I agree. Sooner would be better. I think Ford is setting themselves up to become a larger player in the domestic market.

I see some influence from the S2000 in that rendering, but I'm not sure of the overall design. I'll reserve judgment till I see it in person.

the euro focus and fiesta wont be here until spring/fall of 2010. Yet there has been no word on if they will be offered in any of the trims they have in Europe. (IE: Diesel, ST, RS, etc....) Which will make of break the car. I also have a neighbor that just left ford europe and he was in marketing. He told me that ford knows people will accept a lower quality car compared to what the euro market competes with in terms of small cars.

I really have high hopes for the new Fiesta and Focus. If they do offer at least the equivalent to the ST here I would surely put both at the top of my list for my next car.

Same goes for the Fiat 500. If they bring the Abarth here I would surely be one of the first in line to buy them.

Once Honda of USA is done with that rendering, it will look more like baby Odyssey then S2000...

I was under the impression that the rending was for the successor of the FN2 (for the EU market) rather than the FD2 successor.

I might be wrong, but I have not heard of Honda uniting the models (which is a shame, as the FD2 is much better than the FN2).

Give American Honda a chance to screw it up. They're the only company who dumbs down their cars more than SOA.

Well Ford never gave us the second gen Focus, we have been stuck with the refreshed to death first gen Focus. Ford is fixing the problem now (thrid gen is coming next year), but Ford has never given us any real performance versions of the Focus (RS, ST).

So you can add Ford to your list.

GM also gave us the Astra, but never gave us any of the good engines, or any of the special edition models from Europe. (VXR..etc)

So you can add GM to your list too.

They had the SVT Focus. May not be impressive now, but when it first came out it was pretty competitive with most sport compacts of the time. Had really excellent handling too. Then there was also the dealer-sold Saleen N20 Focus that came pre-wired for nitrous, but I think they only sold that here for like a year.

Once the N2o was used, the warranty was voided. Not every state got this either.
