Default 1st time ever with 06' TR

The first time I have ever been to a drag strip, went to Martin (raceway?) south of Grand Rapids on Friday night. I made 4 runs but my 2nd run was the best. It's a stock 06' WRX TR...

Reaction: .7811
60 ft: 1.9400
330 ft: 5.8659
ET@594 ft: 8.5430
1/8 et: 9.1327
1/8 MPH: 76.32
1000' ET: 11.9128
1000' MPH: 86.85
1/4 ET: 14.2977
1/4 MPH: 94.58

Temp was ~55 degrees unkonwn humidity. Launch was around 4500.

I have the video if anyone could point me in the direction of a host.

76 in the 1/8th is good....you "should" have trapped ~96mph in the 1/4...

nice run though for sure.

Upload it to www.megashares.com
The way the site works is that you upload a file and it gives you back two links - one link is to share and the other one to use when you decide to delete the file. No registration needed. Upload file size limited to 1,5GB .. all in all what is needed to share files without headache.

So drews_ you think that the 1/8 time is good but i should have trapped at a faster speed...so im not shifting right or shifting at the wrong rpm?

probably one or more of 2 things....either your shifting too "slow" or your shifting at too high of an RPM in 3rd gear. Dont worry about the shifting speed too much, just shift as fast as possible without trying to rip the shifter off....you dont want to break a tranny trying to get 2 more MPH out of a brand new car.

Yeah I did. I ended up racing that Audi that was running 12's. You know how that turned out... I was definately taking 2nd gear to redline, and 3rd im pretty sure was right around 6300. Should i take it out of 3rd sooner than that?

I was there in the blue tinted 12 second STi, good runs man... martin always seems to be "slower" than other local tracks for some reason, keep practicing

That S4 was sick, i ended up getting in like the top six mostly out of luck. I was the blue 04 with no wing on the back. As for the shifting thing i wish i could help more. Ive been trying to drive an 06 for a while but our dealership hasnt had them in. So i dont really know how they feel up top. All i can say is play with it. Just try shifting at different rpms and see which work best . You and overdose better be heading back there for the awd vs fwd vs rwd!!

I'm pretty sure that the '06 falls flat on its face in the higher RPM's. I wouldnt know personally though...still at 500 miles on the Odo.

after 5252 rpm the hp/tq curve matches the 2.0 almost identically. So yeah, up top it pretty much dies off....

Boost does taper off in the upper rpms, but you don't want to upshift too early b/c the lower gear still has a higher mechanical adavnatge over the next one.

Bone stock, I went 13.74@98.25 with a 1.94 60ft. My shift points were: 1-2 6,500rpms, 2-3 6,400rpms, 3-4 6,250rpms. I didn't power shift, but just made clean, crisp & ultra fast shifts.

I think that my slowest shift is from 1st - 2nd. All other gears seem to slide in faster...O well I will keep working in it, and thanks for the input. : )

Overdose, were you in the group of Suby's with the audi at the very end? When I stopped by and said hi and asked if you were running stage 2?

I agree I dont like the 1-2 that much in 90% of cars I drive. But I esp. hate it in my WRX, oh well. It gets the job done...

Update: Went to Martin last night and only got to make 1 run. I would like to try to make multiple runs to see if i can get close to 14 flat. It was pretty cool out, 55 degrees and here is the only run I have made since 2006.
Looks like this is very close to my previous run, so I guess i'm consistent. I don't know if I can take 3 tenths off my ET.

60 ft .......2.0102
330 ft.......5.8885
ET@594....8.5729
1/8 ET......9.1686
1/8 MPH....75.54
1000' ET....11.9523
1000' MPH..87.32
1/4 ET......14.3487
1/4 MPH ...94.05

Car is still stock.
