PWN3D Sunroof won't close (will open) Pretty positive it's the relay.

Busted out the multimeter, ripped the ceiling apart, checked all the wires... all connections are good, but the damn thing won't close. It WILL open just fine. I can hear the motor churning away trying to open more.

I'm thus pretty sure it's the relay that's to blame. Unhooked and reseated all connections and it still won't close.

Any way to get one of these other than hoping the local Subaru parts department can hook me up? Probably not.

2001 RS coupe.

Have you checked to see if the switch is working ok in the close position? That would be my first suspect.

Mine was the sunroof relay. $100 from Subaru, no aftermarket parts available that I could find. It's a small black plastic piece, about the size of a golf ball, with a wire connector hooked up to it. It sits right up in the ceiling next to the overhead light, behind the roof felt.

For now, pull the little plastic tab off the ceiling just next to the overhead light, and you'll see a plastic gear with a hex hole in the center. Use the big allen wrench found in your trunk and turn that manually (or use your own allen wrench from a tool kit) and the sunroof will close manually.
