Default Stromung Exhaust

I have a 98 2.2l and i am looking to put exhuast on it. I am not really sure what is the best one for my car. I thought that the stromung looked pretty good. I was wondering if anyone had any comments on it. Or if anyone who owns one could tell me how they like it that would be great. I am looking for something that isnt really really load. Thanks a lot.

Yes.

It's not the loudest, and it isn't the quietest.

Do a search!

Loud but not earthshattering. Hasnt attracted cop attention yet (near 2 years) Dual Tip looks almost OEM. Beautiful mellow tone.

It's DEEP. Not really loud just very deep. I have catback dual tip and I love it. I got my friend to drive around the parking lot for me and you couldn't hear the car from over 50yd. away unless he really got on it, In which the Intake would be louder anyways. And one more note, go the extra mile and get stainless unless you plan on getting a new exhuast in two years.

I have SS stromung Dual Tip... awesome, deep, deep note. When i let off the gas is burbles and pops slightly, makes it sound real racey!

it's not that loud, BUT, you can hear me coming down the street easily. When i pull up, my family knows i'm home. It's nothing like an annoying Honda or anything, it's got it's own thing...

DOWNSIDE: IT's rusting out. 1 yr, and the piping is rusting out. SS on the tips is one thing, but the rest of the unit is rusting out, and theres nothing you can do about it... It's great for the $ but IMHO, i'd put the $ down and get a Scooby Sport! That's what i'm gonna do in a year when i expect this stromung to begin to show serious wear.

I don't live near snow, or very close to the ocean. It rains occasionally. Rusting is the nature of stromungs

i love it though, and i'm sure i'll miss it when i get the scoobysport

I have the full Stainless muffler with Single tip. nice deep tone. I like it.

Brullen makes a good exhaust too.

joltdudeuc,

Do you mean that only the tips are stainless or the whole unit? I am considering the stainless stromung, but I am concerned about the rust - especially since I live in NY where every winter they dump a bunch of salt on the road. Anyone else with rust on a stainless stromung?

Thanks.

No,

the whole thing is rusting slightly.

The tips are fine, however, look inside, and you will see rust as far as you can see.

It's the inside that is rusting by the way. Out side, there seems to be minimal rust. No matter why kind of stromung you get, the inside of the unit is mild steel, not stainless. dew is what it begining my rust. where you live, it will rust very quickly, like, 1 snow season. Albiet, though, that the reason the car burbles and pops is cause of the inner rusting. It didn't do this when i bought it. Also, taking out you snorkus tank will do wonders for the sound!!!

I recommend it if Scooby Sport is too expensive for you, Or if you live in a fairly dry, non snow climate.

www.stromung.com

I have the black rear section with the dual shiny tips... The wield points show some rust, and the little banner that says "Stromung" on the tips have burned away (but thats from my whack, crazy, aggressive driving, and i get the exhuast HOT!)

Hope that helps

-Gagan, whos midpipe is also rusting, and is not sure if it's Stromung or not....

Default snow or salt?

Is it the snow itself that causes the rusting problems or the salt some areas put down? I live in a snowy climate, but no salt is used. Also, I am a bit confused on the SS situation. To those of you that say the SS is rusting, is this the same, higher priced full SS that they have on their website or are you simply talking about the SS tips? Thanks.

I have the mild steel, single tip version on my Legacy and it has been through two winters in Spokane, Washington where it snows like crazy AND gets salted... and I have no rust! It looks new (except for lots and lots of dirt on occassion). Maybe I'll look closer just to make sure, but to the best of my knowledge it's golden.

Oh btw, I LOVE THE SOUND OF IT!!!!!!!!! I have Borla headers also, but those went on after the muffler. The muffler alone makes the car sound very, very good. It's got a low rumble and growl that makes me smile. It really doesn't sound like anything else... that boxer 4 is unique.
