Recently acquired a Z5 ecu and 5th injector manifold, car currently has a jdm spec ej20g from a gf8 with the 3b ecu and td04 turbo, i've done a lot of searching on this site and googling all subaru forums and the rest of the net, can't really find any solid results, I did find one thread stating the turbo, ecu and manifold are the only differences between the ra and wagon engine, I'm hoping I can just pick up a td05 turbo and slap that on with the manifold and ecu and that the cams aren't different or anything else
can anyone confirm this mystery for me or provide pointers? ![]()

my info is all taken from the 93RA that i had.
but the intake was the same as my 96 but it had the 5th injector. i got the whole front clip so i know it was all RA stuff. but the 5th injector was hooked up to the fuel rail but did nothing... from reading your post im not sure what your question is... do you want to know if the blocks are different. or if just the intak turbo and ECU is different. on my 93 it had a closed deck block but that was the only diffeance, it had the same Turbo as my 96 nonRA... dont know if this helped. but hey it was free... -=Suberdave=- |

Heads were different on RA's. Cams were bigger, ECU was more agressive etc. Block was off the line, pistons semi forged type. Rods, Cranks, gudgeons and rings were standard.
Ancillary devices the same. Some had head work, some not. Apparently they were hand balanced. One other thing i noticed that was inconsistent is an additional brace on the oil strainer. So there is a few differences. You can only utilise the 5th injector if you run a sports computer that allows that. |
