Default WTB: Engine Management

Warning: This thread contains potential n00b content/ things that may sound really dumb

Ok, so I just purchased a 96 impreza yesterday which has a bunch of work done to it and am having a very problem with the idle. It idles very rough and if I put it into neutral it stalls almost instantly. The car has a lightweight pulley and flywheel, a unknown brand cat back custom headers and a few other power modifications so I believe the cause for the stalling and rough idle is a lack of engine management.

I am new to this sort of thing so I am unsure of which kind I need but really would like to get this resolved by this weekend as this car is going to be my daily driver. If you have any sort of engine management unit for a GC Impreza let me know.

Thanks,
Luke

forgive my lack of n/a subie knowlegde but...does this car have a MAF sensor? If it does, check for intake leaks after the maf. You can also clean your IAC if you haven't done so in some time.

both are things to consider before dropping $$$ on EM. Though I don't know what EM is availible for 96 impreza's other than maybe e-manage.

No. I'm almost poritive it is the lack of engine management though because of the mods it has.

i would get a scanner and check out your fuel trims, and then the IAC duty as well. it will point you in the right direction.

there seems to be so many other N/A impreza's running about with the same mods and no troubles you describe.
