Default Bolt-on Turbo... More mods needed??

Just wondering if you can just bolt on a turbo kit onto a normal 2.5 motor, or whether the extra power would kill other parts of the motor.
It seems like a great way to get more power, but would the other parts of the motor, i.e. clutch, transmission. pistons etc. be too weak to handle it??

Also, is there any truth to the claim that certain configurations of turbocharging can IMPROVE normal gas mileage? I've heard a little bit about "pulling" or "pushing" types of configuration, but I guess I either need to do more research elsewhere or get some easier information here..

Ideally, I would like to get more boost in the LOWER part of the powerband, like more torque for normal driving.
Is this just a fantasy??

turbo itself

You forgot the biggest point: an engine to handle the boost.
