Default dohc heads/trans- ecu swap forester s

i have a 98 2.5 rs. shes needs a bit of work, but while i get preped, i was wondering if anyone knows how easily this would work
- im not tryn to make a billy badass forester, but id like to put the dohc heads from an impreza to my girls forester, and bump it up a bit. would i need a new ecu aswell?? - is this a dumb question?
-plus, second gear in her automatic has a slight shutter. putting a manual in would be ideal, considering i drive it 90% of its running time
-just changing the heads and tranny, would this require special ecu, or would, lets say, a 2.5 rs's ecu be just fine??
knowing that the head gaskets blow prematurly on these block, what would be a better match?
=any suggestions??

btw, im new to this forum, and i swear, noone around nebraska knows **** about subys - i NEED yalls help!
