At that sea level you got 11's man easily. Do what I do....go through the water box. Get to the line back up and mini launch to sling the heavy water off. Then give er all ya got! You want those tires to spin but I understand with a big turbo it's hard!
Thanks for the info. I will try this if I have trouble again. How did you make enough power on a stock 205 to trap 124 without blowing that sob up? Weight reduction?

From what I understand it has a 60lb compressor... the 9cm exhaust housing might make it hard to get all 60 out of it though... probably 55-57 (just a guess).

I have some weight reduction but nothing drastic. Car weighs 3030 lbs with me in it and I weigh 190 lbs when the car is drag strip prepped. I take all seats out, take sti wing off and other things.

Man thats impressive. I don't see mine holding out much longer, and it would be lucky to trap 118. 124 is screaming!

I'm boosting 26-27 psi on my car daily. I alter it enough to lean out and boost 29-30ish at the strip thanks to a special drag map. Stock EJ205 and stock internals. And the car has 134,000 miles on it.

And I thought when I ran my old t3/t4 setup at 28psi through a couple gears I was brave.

Very cool. Period.

Not that simple.....I still have to throw some forged pistons in but we're getting off subject here.

It surprises me that you're nearing the limiter in 4th at under 120. Unless my brain isn't working properly today, I though you could run closer to 130 in 4th on the 07 trans....

Nope....4th runs out at ~118 mph at 7K rpms on the 07 trans where the previous years 4th ran out at like 100 mph.

Yea it thought I could squeeze out slightly higher traps with the 07.. but I was hitting my 7300 limiter just past the line. Going to need those cams!

5th is more of a 4.5.... but it would be nice not to have to make another shift that close to the line.

And that's going by the speedometer which is about 5-7mph off at those speeds. To truely trap 118mph you'll need 5th gear.

04-06 STI needed 5th to hit 100mph using the factory redline of 7k.

Cool, ive seen a few of your posts before but never knew you were on the stock motor, thats just rediculous man, good for you. As far as the 07 trans, from the factory it is supposedly good for 113 in fourth.

One uncrowded day at the track I played around to see how much the trans actually helps. I had a set of bald tires, and ran fourth out to 7400 and only trapped 114. With another set of brand new tires I would trap 113-114 at 6900. My speedo also tells me im crossing the traps at 118-122, and we all know that is pretty much impossible for a stock turbo STi to do.

When i was just at california speedway and got a clean run in I was pretty phsyched before i got my timeslip. Speedo was showing ~117mph when i cross the line, trap speed on the slip was 110mph

My speedo is ~5mph off even down around 40-45 mph. I always notice it when they have the police "Your current speed is" machines on the side of the road.

Good to know, thanks. For some reason I thought it was higher, I'll blame someone else

Ya, my future will include cams with V8 JDM STi heads (with AVCS), AEM EMS, and probably a set of 272/272 Kelfords, 280 at the largest. The motor I'm running was run out well over 9k by ESX (it's their design, they ran it to 9500 if I recall correctly), so with a small enough cam to make it subtle and very streetable, I don't see any reason why we can't take it out to 8500 with the turbo I intend to eventually run (3076ish, maybe slightly larger). At 8500 with a 255/40/27, I think it would be right at the limiter with a mid-11 run

I've put a lot of thought into it, and the transmission is the next step (as I recently turned my 5-speed into a 4-speed ), so I have plan my future trap speeds so that I get a transmission that suits it best.

Wow man I always knew you were a nut! Chasing you any further into the 11s is pointless for my skinnygearedness,....

Great work man. I read your webspace blog on the project and I am amazed. I run the dyno here at SuperRupair in Boulder and would give you a break on any dyno time you need.
