Default 93 front end conversion

can anyone tell me what to do to my front end to make it look more like a 2.5? i know conversions are possible but i dont know what will fit on there and what other parts i would need to get. i have two proposals:

1-say i want to just get the hood, would i need to get headlights and grille too??

2-say i want to go all out... should i get a 2.5 bumper or should i just wait and get a kit sometime....

2a- if i get a kit... will i have to worry about it fitting after ive put a 2.5 hood/grille/lights on it???

if anyone has ANY information for me thatd be great. also... i know this is the wrong place for this but if you have any parts that i will need, and you are willing to help me out, email me

mikeyg6162@aol.com SUBJECT LINE ---- 93 IMPREZA CONVERSION

thanks a lot

ive attatched a picture of my current front... you can see why i need to do something else.... notice my dent bubble.... and scrapes from a truck....

I NEED HELP PLEASEEEEEE!!!!!

1. well i know if you change the headlights to the newer style then you will also have to get the new grill and hood, so to change the hood, i'd assume you'd have to change the grill and headlights also.

2. i like the look of the 2.5 bumper better than the older style. you could always get a body kit that fully replaces the front bumper (like the syms, zerosports, or cwest) . most of the underspoilers are made for the 2.5 style bumpers (my favorite happens to be the stock 2.5rs bumper with the eifel prova underspoiler). but of course, it's your choice

2a. not so sure bout this one but i dont see why there would be a problem. if you do convert to the 97+ style lights and hood, why not just get a body kit made for the 97+'s?

You can buy an pre97 WRX hood that will fit w/ your grill lights but they're about twice as much as a 97+ hood. 97+ hood would require grill/headlights as well.

I like the 2.5 bumper myself... or at least the newer L bumpers (same as the 98 RS bumper)

i just purchased the RS bumper for my L and the bumper reinforcement is different so it won't fit. seeing that a new RS reinforcement is $230 from the dealership, does anyone has any suggestions. i'm desperate to make this work.

The lightweight bumper beam is like $65 from www.subaruparts.com which will work too AND save weight

i don't know about that bumper...

but the 97+ L bumpers, such as the one on my obs, can be modified by cutting the vertical reinforcements that are in the way...

that bumper beam might be different tho...

yeah, it must be different. the fog light mounts are also getting in the way, so cutting out the vertical reiforcements wouldn't be enough. thanks for the idea though. also, can't find any info on that lightweight beam. i did request info though. hope to hear from them soon. thanks for the help.

You could buy a Version 4 style front bumper skin and the lightweight beam (might work with your stock beam?) and go old school style. Or you can get a Version 5/6 (99-01RS) style and get either a stock beam from those years new or used (just sold a used 99 beam for $60 shipped) or get the lightweight beam. You will also have to change the front turn signals, and if you want the fogs you have to get them, the brackets, and wiring harness. Or just get fog covers or leave the holes open, your decision.

About the hood, if you got a Version 1-2 Aluminum hood w/ scoop and vents you don't have to switch your headlights or grill, but it will cost more. Although if you get a 97+ OBS hood or 98-01 RS hood w/ scoop and vents you will have to switch the headlights and grill. Used headlights are damn near impossible to find, new they are $$$$, but then if you like the style you can get the morrettes. You can also get an aftermarket grill if you so choose too.

I have a 93 and I am going all old school, Version 2 look.

Jaxx: So you have done a Version 1/2/3/4 WRX style bumper? And the bumper skin was $180 new or used??? Send me their info if that's correct.
Do you just have the Version 1/2/3 scoop, or do have the entire aluminum hood?? If so how much was it and where did you get it??
I am going to be order all this stuff onceI find the best price out there, still shopping around.

Did you put sideskirts on as well? I found some used, w/ all the hardware for cheap...lucky!

Thanks
