Default SCCA ITA: Integra VIR Qualifying Lap in HD with DL1 data overlay by DashWare

So I finally got in car video working in my ITA Integra. Also, ChaseCam came out with the DashWare product which enables me to overlay my DL1 data on top of the video. Its super easy and comes out super pro looking with great gauges and track overlay.

Here is the SARRC/MARRS Qualifying lap of 2:17.6 at VIR last weekend. Track record is 2:17.2 for my class, but that was with big time drafting.
I'll be posting the race video tomorrow

What encoding techniques/software do you use to then post it to youtube?

DashWare. This is video straight out of that

It encodes the videos after overlaying as h.264 MP4s and it has a built in setting for YouTube HD. Easy as Pie. Comes out to 4-6MB/s VBR with that built in setting and gets uploaded straight to YouTube.

No they don't yet. Tom has a different recording system.

The ChaseCam HD is in the works but no firm dates on when it will be ready from what I've been told.

Who is this guy? He doesn't even own a Subaru?!

Back to www.clubsi.com with you!

IBhedoesn'thaveamiatasohecan'tbeanop!

Two things:

1. What's up with the wheel-shifter-wheel-shifter on the straights. I think you have Turrets.
2. Srsly, that thing went the same speeds as my car around ViR, but with more stick. :\ It is as sad as I thought... no more than 120esque. I was just hoping that my speedo was wrong.

I was actually going to ask the same thing. Right around the 2 minute mark, I noticed you keep reaching down for the shifter, and I can't figure out why.

He does the same thing all the time in all the videos of him I have watched.

I think that you get this mode "enabled" once you win a National jacket or something.

More than likely, his "tension" release or ensuring he always knows by muscle memory the distance to the shifter?

Its tic or something I don't get it, and I don't even notice that I do it.

As far as watching it in HD, let the whole thing download through YouTube before you play, otherwise its choppy. Unfortunately YouT00b is the only game in town for nice HD video uploading for free.

I use a Samsung HD cam. Gonna make a blog post about it and link around as a ton of people from various forums have asked

You can do HD for free with Vimeo, but only one video a week. *shrug*

Very nice vid. Great driving. You get on the gas into hogpen way earlier than I do. Don't know if it's just the car, technique, or both. I have something new to try when I go back to VIR. Thanks!

And the HD vid ids great. No shake in the camera either. Add me to the list of people wanting to know what you're using.

My gripe with Vimeo is that I can only view the video 600px wide or full screen. I really like the view size options of Yout00b.

Thanks for the comments, I think its more car then driver. I've got the car setup nailed, and its using some very quality components that are working together. Koni 28s, custom swaybars, camber nailed, etc etc. Its loose as a goose though, so its fast on the throttle, and loose off, so I try to stay on there as much as I can

Thanks for the write up. Quick question, does the Samsung SC-HMX10 have a port for an external mic?

It does have a port. Here is a good review of it
http://www.camcorderinfo.com/content...view-34476.htm

Basically, its the best budget HD cam for action on the market. Shoots in 720p which is better then 1080i for motion, but not for plain resolution. Since I'm going to be posting at 1280x720 online anyways, I don't care about that lack of 1920x1080 at all. I'd rather get the best motion capture. If you want low light shooting, this ain't the camera for you, you need to spend double the $$ on the HMX20 or go to something in the $800 range.

So, did he just have more tire than you in the second race as well?

Also, why did you lift off when you got a better run out of Oak Tree and could have passed in before the Roller Coaster? (lap before he went off).

Edit:: Just read the video description:

So, you were going to draft him and late brake him into 1 again?

We were really playing cat and mouse. The first time I passed him into Turn 1, he lifted 200ft early and let me go. I didn't even want to pass, I was just wanting to be on the inside to screw with him, not pass him. Thats why I let him back by in Turn 3

Its easy to pass at VIR at the end of the straights in our cars because of the draft, especially since my car handles better, so I just wanted to screw around and pass on the last lap for the win.
