Default car is SLOWER now?!

i just had the act clutch and JUN flywheel installed, and it seems to pull more agressivly in 1st and second gear, mebe third too, but the crazy thing is now my boy in his PORBE GT (200 hp J-Spec motor) that i used to beat is BEATING ME!
it MIGHT be my launches, since i cant just dump the clutch n e more, but even when i beat him off the line he passes me after i shift into third every time. i used to beat him off the line and have enuf power for him not to catch up, but now hes passing me quicker than ever... this blows

current list of mods
ACT clutch
JUN flywheel
short throw
PRM intake
bruillen headers/ cat back exaust

any comments ????

Well, lets analyze this.
You now have a lighter clutch & flywheel combo correct? So why would your car not accellerate as fast? I'll bet that because of the lighter rotating mass the engine slows down quicker when shifting, thus causing it to have to "catch up" in a sense.
The lightened flywheel not only allows the engine to rev faster, It also allows the engine to lose rpm's faster too. So while your getting used to your new clutch and your glazing the snot out of it before it actually has time to break in properly, Why don't you take it easy & get used to your new setup so that when you and your car is ready, You can beat your buddy.

how long ago was the clutch installed? a day ago, or a few weeks..

if the clutch was just done in the last day or two your computer was unhooked and lost its settings, it may take 60 miles to re-learn the ignition timing and fuel mixtures..

If you recently did an ECU reset, then your power would be at its top. For one, the computer does not change fuel settings for WOT, no matter how many times you reset the ECU. Those values are fixed in your ECU forever. The timing will only get less powerful over time. Timing is changed by the ECU over time to prevent engine damage and does not produce more power. Your car will most likely feel strongest right after a reset.

As far as the combo making your car slower, that is very strange. My times have dropped about 0.36 seconds in the 1/4 since my Clutch/Flywheel/Borla Header install. I also noticed that my brother's GS-R could not pull away from me until ~100MPH (He used to walk away at 70MPH)

You know it's just miscommunication. You stated that you just got it installed, so thats what i thought you meant. I don't think people are just going to start flaming for no reason. He read it the same as me and we both got the impression that it was pretty new still. Hondatech is a good guy and has helped many people in the midwest forum.
Good luck.

that's exactly what i thought...just getting something installed means like a day ago to me...sorry i do this stuff every day...i have had to redo cars after 1k miles cause people didn't let the clutch break in. and FWIW my car is tempremental as hell, some days it's fast some day's it's slow...and the WOT maps will never change on these cars.

UPDATE

ok, when the plugs were changed they had a bit of brown/orange coloration on the porcelin, the electrodes were a little grey.

but n e way, my car is still slower now than before the clutch n flywheel

ran a 15.9 today, and the probe continued to walk away in third gear. I used to beat this kid by like 2 carlengths off the line and he wouldnt be able to gain on me till like 80mph. I thought the flywheel and clutch would give me better times not worse. With all the money ive put into power mods so far i am really frustrated with the current performance of the car..
Anyone know what i should do? Im almost positive its not a driving skill problem, this is too much of a difference. Also, the rear of the car, as well as right under the center cup holder, is making a repeating clanking noise coming out of first gear. Could the trans have a problem that would make the car driveable but slower? If you were in my situation what would you do?

please help

i'm not sure what you did to your car, but i KNOW my car is faster. I run thru the gears much quicker...i went 16.02 @ 82.8 w/ 5800 miles on my car and not knowing how to drive it. YOu might have an O2 sensor getting funky, what gas are you running?? what other mods?? what was your 60ft??

my 60 foot was 2.2
1/8th was 10.1 @ 68.9
1/4 was 15.9 @ 84mph
my reaction time was .989
no other mods than the ones listed above other than a back seat taken out, removed doughnut.
i had 1/4 tank of gas but it diddnt hesitate. The car FEELS a lot faster, cos it revs fast, but its not going anywhere.
i had 84 octane in the car

hmm this is weird... does anyone else have the clutch and flywheel done on their cars?

maybe start a new thread with the name "clutch & flywheel lightened problems" etc to get people w/ the set up to give comments?...

i'd like to know why this is happening also as i was planning to do the same setup until now heh

I dont know because I dont have a WRX but my best friend does, and he uses 91 octane, and I think with a car this hight performence, you should too. I have an rsx type s and it sais that i need to use premium gas. Doesnt the WRX say that too? my friend said it did. try running it on that for a while.

i decided im gona try and find a local (anywhere within a hundred miles is fine if this car gets properly diagnosed and fixed) speed shop or something that has excellent modded subaru experience. something is wrong here and i have no idea why. Also, i think most mechanics really dont know jack s*** when it comes to subarus, and i think somewhere along the line someone that worked on my car really messed up.

Anyone know of any subaru friendly speed shops in NJ or the tri state area?

84 Octane?! You should be running at 87 or 89 ! You shouldn't be running premium gas either. For RS's...use 87, and if you mod it, and pinging starts that doesn't go away, try 89. 91+ is too high for an RS. Too much unburned fuel, and you end up loosing performance.

Hey booger, I'm not going to try and say I can help you because I'm no good at this stuff, but from everything I've ever read, it looks like you SHOULD be making more power, but just read this post that I posted today from SCC.

http://www.i-club.com/forums/showthr...hreadid=178371

Basically, they had their stock car Dyno'd at 177whp -- then they reset the ECU - the best they could get was 167 whp -- and the 10 hp NEVER returned.

Check it out the link and you'll see what I mean.

Best of luck to ya!

Oh, One more thing, and I think this could help. I didnt even realize your car wasnt a WRX,and that it was N/A (used to seeing only WRX threads), but anyway, you have an aftermarket exhaust....did you change your gaskets when you installed it? I know this doesnt always go wrong when you upgrade exhaust, but my gasket went, and the car still felt right, but something was just wrong, and it wasnt as fast. is there less torque? i know i lost torque, cause you lose all the back presure. anyway, I replaced mine, and the second i got it replaced, It felt sooo much different. and FASTER. I could be wrong, but hope this helped. good luck .

Wow - Call me blind, but I apologize for TOTALLY missing the fact that you DIDN'T have a WRX -- sorry about that!

Hopefully the gasket thing "i really wan the sti" spoke of could solve your problem.

Good luck - let us know the outcome!
