Default My WRX

Hey Guys,

I rode in and drove an 05 STi the other day and i am now convinced i loved it way more then my 06 WRX personally.

This thread isnt me trying to sell the car its more of what do you guys think i could sell it for cause obviously im trying to get as much as i can so i can pay less for an STi.

If its not appropriate to have this thread here lmk and i will take it off.

Most of you have seen it at the In'n'out meet.

Its SGM 06 TR WRX.
Miles: 54,xxx

Mods:
-Ecutek (stage 2)
-Cold Air Intake
-Catless Turbo Back Exhaust (brand not known)

This is stuff i have done within the last 10K miles
-New Clutch(OEM)
-Brake Pads
-Toyo Tires (8K on them)
-Rally Armor
-NGK Spark Plugs
-Serpentine Belts

You guys can PM if you would like or post here

Again my intentions are not to sell the car in this thread or get offers just some info on what i might be able to get.

i would appreciate your knowledge

Thanks!

I don't believe 15k in real life, as you can find 04-05 STIs for 11k-14k and 07 stis in the 18k-19k range

If I were you I would keep the WRX and mod the hell out of it. You're going to lose a couple grand between sales tax and depriciation as it is. The biggest difference you have in the DCCD honestly, everything else is a matter of personal taste. I have a couple buddies with WRX's that are fast as all hell, you don't need an STi unless you are wanting the name recognition. I bought mine before I knew anything about Subaru's.

I'd keep the WRX if I were you, 2006 was a great year.

+1 on what Jay's saying. I got my 6 speed for 2K cause I spent months looking. And have cash in hand. Money talks and BS walks. You can usually get steep discounts if you're there cash in hand to make the deal.

If you had bought your wrx new, I'd say hand onto it, but since you bought it used, you're really not giving up that piece of mind or knowing the history of the car. And since you have a sedan, building it into an STI does not really make sense.

Uggghhhhhhhh, he does speak the truth, I have let go many of good parts for far less than I was asking . Cash in hand does make you lower your expectations quickly .

Yes sir! That's my solid advice to anyone looking to buy anything large. This may sound heartless, but a lot of people need money these days, especially with all the economic downturn non-sense that's going on.

There's some good deals out there now.

I have found 05s with 75k miles for 13.5k OBO about 2 weeks ago, If i wasn't look for a wagon (since we have 2 sedans) i would have picked it up, If you are not willing to travel to get a deal, then yes you will not find anything that cheap

I have also seen 07s posted for $19,xxx with 30k miles but since i don't wanna spend that kinda money i don't even bother

Buy that 05 for 13.5K and a beater wagon with a good body and swap them both entirely. Then sell the WRX swapped STi for 9.5K. Would this work? It would be sweet.

i have yet to find a 05 STi for less than 18K with not over 124,795 miles haha

i love my wrx i just figured it might be cheaper to just buy an 05 STi with most of the stuff i wanted on it already instead of dropping loads of money on the wrx.

idk though.

i just want my whip to be alot louder(rumbly) than it is. Ideas for exhaust???

What exhaust do you have now. I think we could probably get you a "rumbly" exhaust for cheaper than an STi.

I've got a very rumbly catback in my garage you can have for 150 bucks. You'll need a three inch gasket though as I do not have one. It's a full 3" exhaust with a canister style muffler. The sound was not bad at all, especially considering the price and its' stainless. It was just a bit too loud for the wagon as they tend to hear drone more. Let me know and it's yours!

A few months ago there was an Aspen White 05 STi w/ 43k miles for $17k. I've seen a couple 04's in the $15k range. Finally, I saw an 06 STi for $19k(don't remember mileage) and a 07 STi(don't remember mileage) for $21k not too long ago. These were in our very own Phoenix Craigslist too.

There are crazy deals to be had these days. No vehicle in this economy is worth what KBB (or other) says it's worth, or at least the seller will not get said value. It is desperate times, people need money, and like Ken said cash talks.

OP, like I said search online for similar cars to get an idea of what to sell yours for.

Here's a Satin White '07 with less miles and less mods (more desirable IMO, especially with no locked ECU..) for $17k. I'd say you would have a hard time getting $15k with deals like this floating around.
