Default I need a snorkus (Intake Silencer) soon... Help please!!

Hi! I need a snorkus/Intake silencer by this thursday Just for Friday... Can you help me? I really need to borrow one but if you got one for a good price, i guess i'd have to buy it from you! Btw I live in Gilbert, AZ (SanTan Meeting).

If your wondering why, heres my story... I've been hearing a weird rattling noise from the engine bay when accelerating my car after 3500rpm... So took the car to the dealer, gave the dealer guy a quick ride and showed it to him. The dealer guy told me that he has no idea where the noise is coming from but he thought it could be from somewhere in the air induction system (intake, turbo, intercooler etc)... Now from my bad luck, the very very only mod i have done to the engine so far is snorkus delete. And I got an appointment at the dealer to take her and get her examined under the warranty. Now I dont want them to give me the crap that: "Oh yeah you modded the intake system so warranty = Denied bla bla"! That would just be pure bull**** since ive been hearing the noise before i took out the snorkus. So if you can help me just put a snorkus for friday and take her to the dealer to get her fixed under the warranty, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,
Arash

EDIT: I don't know if it matters but I need it for a 2007 wrx

I've got one you can borrow, but I seriously doubt they are going to nail you over a snorkus delete. I guess better safe than sorry.

you cant void a warranty for a snorkus delete.

ohh and there are only 2 reasons a warranty can be voided.

what mods do u have on your car? and there is nothing that can rattle due to a snorkus delete. In my years @ subaru ive never seen any problems related to a snorkus delete. If your taking your car to power subaru the service manager is pretty cool guy.

Its like... one of the belts being ripped apart kind of noise but its not belts coz I checked... Maybe something has gotten loose in the engine? I don't know... I'm really curious myself too! whatever it is, it only makes that noise when theres load on the car. if I just revv it in neutral it doesnt make that noise... I'll be there at the meeting this thursday so you can see it... Ill see if i can make the video!

Thats what I thought it might be but the noise doesnt come from the passenger side... it comes from somewhere in the center... but the fact that it comes after 3500rpm got me thinking about turbo!

Does it only happen at WOT? Does the sound only occur around 3500 rpm or does it continue to redline? Does the sound frequency of the rattle change as rpms go up or down. Is the sound loud or somewhat faint (i.e. is it loud enough to definately tell it's a rattle)? Sorry for the barrage of questions but I'm curious.

-It happens at +50% throttle (Max noise = WOT).
-The sound continues to redline
-The sound changes as rpm changes. but its weird its not getting more or less it just changes.
-Its not like OH MY GOD loud, and its not TOO faint either... its somewhat faint

I was thinking it might be engine knock. Usually you can only hear knock around 3500-4500 rpm when peak torque/load hits if it's even happening- it sounds like a faint exhaust rattle (more like bb's being rolled around inside a tin can). Hopefully it's not that.

It does kinda sound like bb's being rolled around insid a tin can!
Isnt it a good thing if its the exhaust rather than inside the engine?

Definately, but sometimes it's hard to tell the difference (i.e. sometimes light knock can be mistaken for an exhaust rattle). I would hope a tech would know what knock sounds like but you never know. I'm not trying to freak you out, but it's no secret that running a turbo car hard with 91 octane in +100* heat = an unhappy car.

You could try puting at least 5 gallons of 100 octane in your gas tank to test - not a cheap test. If the sound dissappears you'll have your answer.

belts ripped apart??? im not sure how that sounds.

where is this sound coming from... under the car, from the engine, front left of engine front right, have u sprayed anything on your belts (even by accident). usually the only sound belts make are when they slip.. and thats a high squeal type of sound. i hope ur not using anything under 91 octane.

higher octane is less prone to knock. if your car is knocking 100 octane gas should stop that.

no its not the squeal sound! and ive always used 91 octane. ive been treating this car almost too well. maybe the previous owner ****ed it up! he did blow 2 tires once offroading!
