Kirby wants to hold a general meeting with a few of the I-club members (one being you) about the conversion from akdsm.com to akawd.com.

Please list here if you can make the small leadership meeting at my house this weekend.

Those wanted in attendence.

Scott -- web issues

Mark --
2 I-club members who want to help merge the clubs

I want to discuss akawd.com and converting this over to that, along with other issues. It will be quick, I just want to have another meeting for both groups May 18th. Please let me know if you can come or not.

I am not speaking for everyone here but this was a conversation that I had been part of on a similar subject about car/anything clubs. Basically once a club is put together then it puts responsibility to the members to actually show up and participate. This involves laws and regulations that have to be followed and might cause tension between people. Of course if you don't want to join you don't have to. I am just putting mah 2 cents in. I am sure everyone here has seen car clubs come up overnight and gradually fade away or just outright disappear. This is because members get disgruntled at the rules or favoritism between leaderships. The worse thing is that the excitement or interest for the club dies. The i-club.com forum is not a club but just a hangout for different people. People come and go whenever they like without repercussions or guilt.

I don't believe it's trying to become quite that serious....just people who are more into organizing things and such would be the "leaders" or whatever Kirby is refering too.....

I agree, but again.....as far as I know it's not going to change really cept he would like to merge the two "groups" since many of us have the same interest.

I don't know of anything mandatory, Kirby himself has less posts than almost everyone on the DSM board, so mandatory things shouldn't be implimented.

Basically, from what I have gathered, it's going to be just like how the I-Club is now, and how the DSM board is...just bigger in numbers. *shrug* I may be wrong though, I have been known to be

You guys have no idea how much it takes to run a real club. It's like a second job, especially when it's first forming.

But with that said..... who would be interested in starting an all out Performance Car Club?

Ok, let me re-phrase that.

Who wants to start organizing for it and do all the paperwork and redtape?

Can you clarify what is going to happen? Why would you need paperwork and have to clear up "red tape"?

Is this going to become some club with membership dues and responsibilites or just a club of enthusiasts who enjoy hanging out and talking cars?

I enjoy the way it is now...I mean as in the casual club where we meet once in a while and help eachother out. Not clear on what is happening to these clubs now. Casual or serious?

Jason,

Yeah, but everyone wants to have a website (costs $$$ for bandwidth) and they also want to have club-track days, shirts, stickers, you name it.

If you make a club, you want to make it a non-profit business so you don't have to report funds to the IRS.

Scott,

I think all these things need to be discussed in person. I know that Winslow and myself would like to meet with you guys to discuss this and talk about some things.

I am not sure if you have contacted Winslow on the initial meeting that this message was looking for, but if not, please let us know when we can meet and discuss this. This weekend is just crazy for Winslow and I with the car show going on, but next week should work for me.

Later....Kris
