Question Freehold Subaru, NJ

I'm planning on getting a WRX within the next few weeks. The closest Subaru dealer is Freeehold Subaru. Anyone have any experience with this dealer?? Thanks.

Have you dealt with their service dept? I'm probably going there to have a new door handle and lock installed. They're the closest to me.

Hey Barrymazza,

I totally agree with you on that one. I walked in yesterday and ended up buying a Platinum Silver Metallic WRX from them. They were completely professional and everything was pressure-free. Even the service manager came by to say "Hi" and talk to me for a bit. Hopefully picking it up this Tuesday. . .can't wait!!

I talked to the internet sales manager Christopher first and ended up buying my car from Phil. Really nice guy, willing to work with me on pricing and got me exactly what I wanted. They didn't even pressure me to complete the sale before the end of the month to meet their numbers. Stressed that the most important thing to them was to sell me the car that I wanted. Much different than other dealerships. Great experience. Highly recommended.

I ended up paying $600 over invoice for the exact car that I wanted. They did quote me $500 over invoice on another car, but I decided not to take that one as I didn't want the upgraded speakers and amp/subwoofer. I would have ended up taking them out anyways and put in my own system. I may not have gotten the best price around, but I was shooting for around $500 over invoice and the extra $100 didn't bother me since I was getting what I wanted now and didn't have to order from the factory and wait.

Angry I hate Freehold Subaru

The story is long, I warn you now. I purchased my WRX from Subaru back in July of 2003. I had known for about 2 years that this was the car I was going to buy. So when the date came around to buy the car, I thought it was going to be a good experience. NO! I went to Freehold Subaru and found a WRX that would fit my needs. I wanted the spoiler and a few other things, but nothing crazy. They said it would take like 10 days for the parts to come in. Not a big deal at all. When the car was ready, we signed the papers and were about to drive it off the lot and discovered several dings on the rear bumper. We were concerned so the manager came out and told us that they would repaint the bumper in their onsite shop for free and it would have a 5 year warranty on the job. I was happy with that. I sent in my first payment for the car and the options were still not installed on the car. I made it a point to call the dealership a few days ahead of time to confirm the appointment. I also wanted to know if the work would be done by the weekend because I was going to be putting 500+ miles on the car that weekend and was willing to reschedule to a later date if the car would not be done. They said it would be done. I drop off the car on a tuesday night and get my loaner car. I was later told by the marketing survey person that Subaru is supposed to give me an Enterprise Rental car while the options were being installed, but I was given a 1996 Hyundai Elantra that was being sold on their lot as a Used car...window stickers and all that stunk of baby vomit. The Elantra was waiting for me outside with the windows down and the AC blasting (covering up a smell, maybe). I went and bought air fresheners for the front and back seats and it still stunk. I figured I could suck it up though. I only used it for driving to work anyway. I called Freehold Subaru on Friday to confirm the car was done and that I could pick it up after work. They said it would not be done until saturday. I flipped! After a series of phone calls and being put on hold, I was told that it would be delivered back to the dealership by 6pm...I was like, "sent back?" It turns out the work is not done onsite, but at a local body shop. Now I was really ticked. I get the car just before 6 and leave the air fresheners in the Hyundai. To top it all off, the paint of the rear bumper is now beginning to chip off. I have yet to call them and tell them about the latest paint issue. I am seriously considering paying for the car to get repainted somewhere else.
I am a young guy, only in my 20's but no one should get treated like that. I am going to be buying several more cars in my life and none of those cars will EVER be through Freehold Subaru again.

My family has bought 5 cars from and my best friends family has bought/leased 4+cars from them and have never had a issue from them my friend bought his 2011 sti from them and was given invoice price and they matched the prices from Subaru genuine parts on any of the accessories that he wanted for the car. Also, they did a buyout transfer on my friends car and transferred it to along with giving me financing. Now my dad does know the general manager and the sales guy who sold my friend his sti I knew from high school however the price on the sti was given before talking to any of them. Their a great dealership
