I also have a jack, stands, and spring compressor I can bring if needed.

We should probably try to get a better idea of who needs help with what and how much room we are going to have.

On a side note anyone with a street bike that lives near Boise want to help me out with something?

I work at the transportation department and they are currently revising the motorcycle license manual. They have asked me to try and get a photo of a bike in traffic for one of the sections in the book. You wouldn't get any monetary value out it if the picture ended up getting used but it might be cool to tell people that it is you. lol
If you need a photographer let me know. Love doing side stuff like that.

I hope they're not 04 struts but i guess you never know. The funny thing is when I first got it it didn't do any clunking. Also I really only hear the clunk when going slow like rolling up to a stop sign ect.

Work to be done:
1. fix axle boot
2. repack rear struts
3. install down-pipe

04 and 05 STI struts are different, can't be swapped without swapping hubs (5x100 vs 5x114), so that can be ruled out.

Hey Xissix I guess the bike photo can be just about anything as long as it is a bike in traffic. Not sure how well you will stand out, black bike and black gear, but if you want to give it a shot let me know.

True, all black would proabaly be tough to get a good photo, especially moving and in traffic. Your call Does this mean I'll have to register it?

Good point and my struts are black, I believe 04 are red. Either way I did some research and their are many guys with the same issue on 05.

That or take your chances. lol

Actually they said they found a photo to use if I couldn't come up with anything so I think we are good for now.

I beleive this is partially incorrect. The rear struts are swapable within all years. There are forester guys using 05+ STI rear struts on stock hubs. It's the fronts that will not swap without swapping in STI hubs.

You're right. The 04's are Red, and what you described does sound like the clunky strut. I have plenty of the Red Mobile one grease if you want to use it. I re-packed my sti struts no problem and I have no clunk....yet.

From everything I read on 6 speed swaps, they all say no go. Did a little research and sure enough, the hub mount is the same, just the hub and wheel mount flange are different. Learned something new .

Got me thinking now though, I could get some front 05+ knuckles, new rear hubs, redrill my rotors, my wheels are already dual pattern....

What about first or second weekend in May to do an install day? I know there is the Rally-x on May 1, but either weekend should work if my house is the location.

Sun May 2nd a possibility? I've got plans the second and third weekend in May I just realized, so I'd be out for those two.
