I don't feel like paying A shop extra to do this, so is there a way I can do it myself?

are you talking about removing the badges, or the lock?
or both? if it's the badges, search on "debadge" |

lolwut? just heat it up with a blowdryer and take it off simple as 1, 2, 3 what kind of nonsense is paying a shop to take it off for you? I dont even think shop would do that, they'd just point and laugh edit: and if you dont mean debadging and you mean shaving all of the noise reduction/dynamat type crap in there (i dont know what its called), I heard use dry ice and a chisel or something of that sort |

Also, if your thumb isnt getting rid of all the excess, use the rubbery grip of some hedge pruners to rub it off.

ummm shaving the trunk means getting rid of the keyhole and the wing holes, so either you guys are giving useless information, or the OP doesn't know what trunk-shaving means.
What I did was cut out little squares of metal that were slightly bigger than the holes in my trunk (from wing + keyhole), and stuck them on the end of a screwdriver with some unmixed epoxy. Then I stuck the squares underneath the trunk lid to cover each hole from the inside, and welded them on, grinded down the extra metal, and filled any tiny holes in with body filler and voila. ![]() |

![]() JB weld in coins from the back side to filled the spoiler holes, then cut and JB weld in a thin piece of round stock to fill the lock hole. Fill, sand, repeat, prime. Edit, didn't read enough. I are dumb. |

if your trying to make the inside look like that white superstreet wrx. Just take out the carpet/the board/spare tire/ and the sideliner. To get the sides off you must take out 2 tabs one by the light and one by side where the hinge swings down. and the rear seat needs to be taken out for one tab on each side. So you dont rip them like i did by just pulling the sides out.
And there are 3 more tabs on each side to remove the carpet on the rear of the seats. I was surprised how heavy those backings are to the seats. But all and all making your trunk have nothin in it is extremely simple. |

what the hell is going on in this thread??
debadging- removing the stock badges from the outside of the trunk, ie: the impreza, WRX, STI, SUBARU (depends on your car) Shaving the trunk- Removing ALL visible holes from the trunk, ie: keyhole, spoiler holes etc. and making the trunk one smooth surface thruout Stripping the interior- removing EVERYTHING frmo the inside of the car, or just the trunk area...w/e you need the dry ice because that sound deadining material is pretty much cemented onto the car, try ripping it off with your fingernails...ok you done? how are your nails? dry ice, a chisel and a hammer, the only way to DIY. |
