Default USDM STi VF39 1/4 mile MPH record inside! (Video)

Thanks goes out to CAMTuning for a hell of a job tuning my car!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=puRyu...layer_embedded

So close and yet so far away from 11s, the extra boost did not seem to help as much as the change in tires and addition of Launch Control. When comparing last time I had 5 1.7xx 60 ft times this week I cut 7 1.6xx 60ft times and I believe that is where I saw the biggest change in my actual E.T. I made 8 passes last night and ranged from a 12.14 to 12.22, with my fastest passes coming earlier even despite the 110 degree track temp the car launched much better with absolutely zero wheel spin. As the night cooled off the car would spin more leaving the line so that extra .05x second is what pushed me to run slower a couple of times. Either way the car is super consistent which makes me happy, just wish this stupid vf39 was a little bigger or wish I had 1 less shift, now that I am done with excuses haha here is the best slip...

First mandatory modification list
-850cc injectors
-walbro 255
-hallman pro mbc
-titek downpipe
-invidia N1 catback
-tuned on E85 (CAMTuning.com)

r/t : .745 (not trying to leave on the light)
60': 1.604
330: 4.942
1/8: 7.723
mph: 87.21
1000: 10.142
1/4: 12.146
mph: 111.78

back to back

r/t : 1.172
60': 1.641
330: 4.975
1/8: 7.737
mph: 87.98
1000: 10.151
1/4: 12.146
mph: 112.12

I definitely noticed my MPH come down as the 60' got better and better. As far as MPH record I am not sure if this qualifies as the fastest or one of the fastest trap speeds coming out of the vf39 in a USDM STi but it was HIGH. The stickier lane had someone broke so they started running the lane with more traction issues and it was the only time the whole night I didn't cut a 1.6xx short time and actually spun so bad that it cut a 1.710 so its a tenth off of where I had been the whole night, anyways here is the data...

r/t: .742
60': 1.710
330: 5.047
1/8: 7.834
MPH: 87.91
1000: 10.217
1/4: 12.228
MPH: 116.14

WTF happened? I picked up over 28mph on the back end? With the exact same 1/8th mile times and mph. Can someone confirm the VF39 mph record? This has got to be close.

edit: according to this list http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...4#post24316544 I now have the fastest trap speed out of a USDM STi!

Yeah buddy, absolutely sick!! I am 99% positive you have the record by .02mph!! I believe Earl has gone 116.12. The 28mph thing has been a weird trend between the few of us that have been sub 12.2 on the stock vf.

I have gone 12.0 @ 112.2 all the way to 12.0 @ just under 115. Downsti and Roly who have gone 11.7 were usually going 113, then 115-116 for a few runs, its just about the initial spinning. If I keep my tire pressure at 35 PSI and dump my clutch at redline I will get 114-116 everytime, but its counter productive.

On your faster run, that 87mph 1/8 trap is weird, I do that on 93 pump. But then the back half is just absolutely nuts so im clueless there.

Try some weight reduction or go a bit more agreesive with the timing on the top end, judging by your 1.60 60Ft, and 111 mph trap, Im not sure if you can possibly go any faster as is.

BTW, 12.1 @ 111 = driving perfection

Congrats,

-Mikey

Thanks Man! Yeah as it sits I don't know how much faster I can go since I ran 12.1xx@111-112mph 6 times in a row haha.

I just feel like my 1/8th mile should be stronger the 7.7 is good but the mph seems to be down. I know for a fact that my slowest gear change is first to second, only because it seems when the car launches harder the clutch is so hot it will not properly change between 1st and 2nd as fast when comparing to the other shifts so I don't know.

Either way the clutch is most likely toast at this point but it lived a good life as it slipped on a 4th gear pull on the ride home.

Not sure if it matters but my tire pressure was at 30psi the whole time?

awesome man I really don't know what to tell you you pick up 28mph on the back that is unreal. Are you wingless? at What rpm did you launch? you can drive for sure, but the 6 speed really sucks for drag racing.

This run is pretty similar to yours, without the 60'

reaction: 1.398
60ft: 1.852
330: 5.110
ET: 7.768
MPH: 93.588 MPH

with 35psi tire pressure but I hit 94 with a 25psi tire pressure, I am pretty sure most of the difference is beyond the 1/8

Keep trying.
Get the ACT HD is a really nice clutch

Mikey and CJ, what clutches do you guys have in your cars? I would lower the tire pressure to around 19psi too..

It is, but if you drag race weekend in and weekend out it will not last that long. My ACT HD lasted 20kish, thats probably with over 500 launches and donuts and plain out crazy driving. Running 19psi of tire pressure and launching at 65-6800 probably isnt healthy for it either, hahaa!!

Us three have to put up 11's this year!!!

I got 20k out of my stocker and about 20k out of my ACT HD. Now I have 8k on my clutch master stage 3 which seems not to be as good as the ACT. Its the instant hit of 400+ ft*lbs over and over and over that helps me eat clutches

Thanks man, I am not sure if the ECU just decided to play nice and not pull timing on the back end or if I changed gears at a different rpm. I am not wingless but have thought about it, I was going to take the wing off before going to the track but it was a PITA and the wing had rubbed some of the paint off down to the primer on a corner that was loose. I am launching at about 5200 rpm and leaving great everytime.

wrxwhat,
I am still on the stock clutch which I believe is dead after last night. I need to find a vendor who wants to help me hit 11s on the stock turbo and cut me a deal haha.

btw guys where is the best deal on ACT HD? Or something similar.

I love the feel and streetability of the ACT HD clutch. much better than the POS 08 STI, which lasted me 14K miles. I am hoping this ACT will last a bit longer.

Major props brother,

very very good driving

you have the fastest trapspeed with the stock turbo,

heres the old record for the trap speed

Earl 116.121mph

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1471317

he is now also in second place, norcal is not holding it down anymore

hey Mikey what sup man,

btw do you guys want to add a new list on the stock turbo list for the TRAPSPEED? like a top 10

-------

actually makes sense that with your best E.T. usually net slower trapspeed compared to your fastest trapspeed with slower E.T.
trap speed is weird, its really hard explaining it, changing shift point can actually play a big roll on trapspeed, if your consistant with your shifting speed, lesser traction = usually faster trapspeed or more traction = usually slower trapspeed

i too had this problem when i ran my fastest trapspeed

60ft - 1.878
1/8 - 88.535 mph
1/4 - 115.472 mph ( ecu boost/fuel cut shifting to 4th gear ) i had to completely let off the gas then back on WOT again, 0:09 - 0:10 youll hear the car completely silent then gets loud again heres the vid

Thanks guys, I will get my buddy to throw a video together again and get it posted up in the next couple days.

MPH record holder is nice but I would trade it for just one 11 second pass haha.

but like downsti said, I would really like updated lists to keep this competitive!

Good driving CJ. You'll get that 11 on a cooler day with a new clutch. I can't believe you cut a 1.60 60'!

Yes, this is sick. Roly has a slip going 1.598 with his stock turbo and i think CJ and myself are next in line with a 1.60. I know a 1.55-1.59 is possible, but the cars would not be to happy with it

Can you convince him to try and break the stock turbo record with an 07 STi. 11.7 is still acheivable I think but its a whole new ball game when weight is 3500 instead of 3150
