General Tourist stuff:
http://www.onlyinsanfrancisco.com/ (http://www.onlyinsanfrancisco.com/sfnews/?p=522) focuses on "first time" visits.

Alcatraz Island - take a ferry out to a tour (http://www.nps.gov/alca/)
San Jose isn't too far away - a cool technology museum (http://www.thetech.org/) is there as well as the Winchester Mystery House (http://www.winchestermysteryhouse.com/).

Goto pier39 , golden gate park (peaceful nature walk), twin peaks (view of the whole city)
or if your wife likes to shop goto the mall in downtown

SF fills varying needs depending on what you are looking for.

If you want to check out museums, the new Academy of Sciences, the SFMOMA, Asian Art Museum, and ZEUM are just a few.

For shopping, you can check out Union Square for the big name department stores like Bloomingdale's, Neiman Marcus, Barney's, Macys. For some alternative shopping, Haight & Ashbury will give you that hippy vibe.

Of course, the tourist attractions like Golden Gate Park, the view from Twin Peaks, the Castro, Fisherman's Wharf should not disappoint.

As for vendors, you'd probably have to call ahead to see what they have in stock. Mach III in SF, Speed Element and Wheel Dude in Fremont, GST Motorsports in Hayward, and LIC in Novato to name a few.

Hope this helps...

Best way to get to that meet is by car. =(

Otherwise you MUST check out the other sites, like the Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park. You won't be disappointed.

If you like to do mini trail walks/climbing up & down cliffs, there's Ocean Beach on the west side of the city.

Get yourself on I-club, and let them know you want to go. Someone will give you a ride there for sure.

yup go on i-club.com most bay area users like me.. they have the site for the tuner shops.. just like everybody saying pier 39 (try some clam chowder), theres a cable car there that will end to union square if your wife loves to shop.. go to twin peaks at night nice view, theres also a japantown in san fran, go inside the two little mall they got.. golden gate of course, crookedest road at lombard st.. we have subaru meet here in vallejo every tues at 6pm, and if you like some wine you should visit Napa Valley, try some wine tours kinda expensive though.. anyways have fun..

Muir woods should not be missed. And if you are the hiking type, there is a hike from Muir Woods to Stinson beach with incredible views of the ocean and you get to see parts of Muir woods you would not ordinarily see.

Don't forget to hit Chinatown in SF. It's loaded with tourists but it is an authentic Chinatown, unlike Japan Town which is really just a 3rd rate mall.

Zushi Puzzle in the Marina has the best sushi in town. Make sure you eat at the sushi bar for Chef Roger's recomendations on what is hot.

There are great views of the City and Golden Gate Bridge from the Marin Headlands. Just drive up the road just North of the Golden Gate bridge. You can also check out some WWII gun emplacements there too.
