Default Marcus Gronholm to drive at Pike's Peak!

Just got this press from Ford this morning. He and Andreas Eriksson are going to be driving the ford fiesta rallycross car out there.

this is great news

opportunity for another "Euro pilote climbs to the clouds" video like the famous "Climbdance" of the 1980s

nice car, too bad about the hellaciously hoogly wing !

Ford needs to send a boatload of rally Fiestas over here for the Yanks to play with

The Fiesta isn't offered in all wheel drive in Sweden. The rally cross car has less in common with a stock Fiesta than Jimmy Johnson's car does with a stock Chevy. Well, ok, it uses the stock windshield, so not really.

Don't worry about the restictor...

The all-wheel-drive Fiestas are powered by a 2.0-liter Duratec Ford engine capable of more than 800 horsepower.

After MG does that, I'd like to see him climb it with an Escudo or a 1000 hp Toyota Hill Climb car.

Shouldn't this be in in hillclimb section of motor sports?
Interesting news regardless; it's good promotion for the Fiesta which will turn up eventually...

This is not a WRC car, this is a rallycross car.

WRC is driving on a closed public road on a timer. Restrictor keeps cars from having more than ca 320hk, but usually 700NM though.

Rallycross are when several cars compete at the same time on the same circuit, consisting of half and half gravel and tarmac. Usually from 600 to 800hp. They have less restrictive restrictor than WRC cars, but are not as technically advanced as WRC cars though.

Rallycross vid (very entertaining sport):

Of course, the driver is from the WRC series though. That is probably the most important factor!
