Default SHAWNoftheREX's '13 PBP WRX build

Well I figured now would be a good time to start a build thread for my 2013 PBP WRX. The car is coming together SLOWLY but surely (when funds allow lol)
I picked up the car back in October 2014 and after months of searching I knew it was the one right when I saw it. Love how unique the Plasma Blue Pearl is.

Here's a picture the day I brought her home (sorry in advance for cell phone pics)

Car still looks pretty much the same on the exterior as of now with the exception of a few things.

Fortune Auto 500 Coilovers
Kartboy short shifter
Kartboy shifter bushings (front/rear)

I'm sure I'm missing a few hundred things from my wish list

But on to some crappy cell phone pics from along the way

Engine dress up so far

Dash trim wrap

Headlights complete, Supertones installed (front lip is jacked from previous owner ) and yes my mirrors are grey from a little wrapping practice lol

Well I guess its time for a photo dump! lots of little bits completed on the car. Got my own powder coating gun and oven so I've been playing around with that quite a bit.

Front lip installed, went with the vs style lip

Installed cobb SF intake, powder coated the hose clamps and hardware gold. Replaced the nylon washers on air box with metal (also PC'd) and wrapped the ole air box in heat reflecting tape.

Been powder coating any brackets and hardware that I can remove just for practice and it all seems to work really well. Adding a bit more pop over just your normal alt/rad covers.

Radiator brackets pc'd black w/ gold metallic and gold hardware

Oil cap to match

Bracket in front of manifold PC'd and hardware for alt cover pc'd black (hated the chrome)

Intercooler brace and hardware

Engraving on plate delete PC'd

HELLA horn hardware from black to gold

Badge surround dipped, white pinstripe, black/white badge overlay, WRX badge painted gold

Got some goodies in today!
Cusco front strut tower bar
Both Blitz radiator caps
Grimspeed heat shield
and just for the hell of it a Perrin intake water guard

Obviously I wasn't about to keep the strut mounts blue so I coated them first thing.

And also experimented and coated my Rad caps (both rubber seals held up to the 10 minutes in hell so no harm done at all)

Will put the heat shield on later this week. Don't think I will coat that as it most likely gets way to hot and won't hold up.
Also plan on getting to my short shifter sometime soon

But got a nice wax last night, just before the storm

Alright been a bit since my last update so here it goes.

Installed Forcewerkz s206 rep side skirts
Fitment is decent but not perfect

Swapped out my white badge overlay for gold, flows with the theme a bit better

Prova convex mirrors came in, should be on the car within the week
Gonna remove the old mirrors completely instead of installing over them

Cobb DP and process west verticooler came in today, hopefully will be installed by next week so I can get her over to get stage 2 pro-tuned
Wrapped the dp with Ti heat wrap

Re-powdercoated my shift knob from white to black with gold pearl

should have more coming by next week.
She is getting there...

I love the scheme you got going on. The plasma blue pearl is an absolutely beautiful color and the gold is a great contrast.

do you have any pics of your powder coating work space? Im curious as to what/how they're set up

thanks a lot, and for sure. I will go take a few tomorrow. Its nothing too crazy, just using the largest toaster over I could get for now. Just had a 220v outlet wired in the garage so I should be picking up a full-size oven soon

So here is my base setup for the time being...

Moveable work bench with a small compressor mounting and small oven next to that. gets to 400 very easily so I've had no issues but will be upgrading to a conventional oven here soon for larger parts.
Yellow box mounted under the table is the actual coating system

Then my paint booth that I made and the box below is topped with an air conditioner filter that is hooked to my shop vac. when turned on it pulls most of the overspray down and catches in the filter so it doesn't go all over my garage..
Pretty simple set up.

Process west Verticooler installed today, install was a pain, took a lot longer than expected but I got it. Overall fitment is great, didn't have to bend brackets or anything but you do have to move the master reservoir level socket which is a B***H..
Thing looks bad ass though, now time to sort out what I'm thinking is a slight boost leak

Cobb catted DP installed as well while I had everything off, install was very simple and pipe seems to be VERY well built. Only issue I has with this is the o2 bung is moved back a few inches but all I had to do was pull some of the wire slack up from the engine bay, not to hard.
Car sounds MEAN now, especially with being stage 2.

Took a break from working in the bay and installed my OEM rain guards. Very straight forward install here.

Looks good. So does the Cusco strut bar fit with the verticooler?

Unfortunately no. Which is odd because I was informed the gt spec fit and the cusco is the same size but it's just slightly to big.

Installed my new Thule Aeroblade roof rack today along with the Inno fairing.
Took a bit to get everything even but now that its set it should be an easy on/off from my understanding.

Also had some time to coat all the new clamps from my TMIC install and also stenciled WRX onto the intercooler. All came out pretty good.

Should have some more goodies here by next week

Update on the car, lots of fun stuff over the last few months

Got a few things from IAG on the car to get rid of all the random yellow caps.
Got the brake master cap, coolant overflow cap, washer fluid cap, and power steering cap and everything seals very nice, no leaks at all.

Installed a Pioneer AVIC-8100 NEX and some Pioneer A series door speakers, So happy to get away from that stock Headunit...so underpowered

Coilovers also came in and have since been installed, went with the FA500 with swift springs 8k/8k and love them, they feel awesome. Thanks to Geoff over at Cygnus for these, great dude to work with and able to answer any questions I had. dropped it about 1"-1.5"

Also got around to retrofitting my headlights, and holy crap they are a huge difference over the stock halogens. I can actually see at night now. They are also bi-xenon which are spliced into my stock highs, so projectors go on high w/ stocks at the same time which is cool.

Before:

After:

Time to get into wheel purchase mode...most likely won't be till after winter though (at least won't be on the car till then) and still need to get that tint done.

It took a solid 45 minutes but if you take your time it's really not that hard, and this is coming from a guy who paid someone to install a cat back exhaust and cold air intake
