Exclamation Help OBD Port Not Functioning

I have a 2002 WRX. Got a CEL a few weeks ago. Thought it might go away after a few starts. It didn't. Went to Autozone to get it pulled Plugged into the port located directly under the steering wheel and the scanner said no link. Is there a fuse I should check. I looked at the panel in the cabin and under the hood but none were labeled OBD.

Thanks

Im guessing the port is getting power though. I had this same problem, I ended up having to jump a wire directly from the pin on the ecu to my obd plug

is the key in the forward position??

If so, the only way that the OBD port isn't working is if it is not getting power. something is causing that issue to happen which is most likely a faulty ECU

if the communication line is pinched or cut somewhere between the obd plug and the ecm you will not have communication but the scan tool will power.

before you go crazy try a different scan tool.

Here is what works for me with an Actron, with the 02 wrx and all OBD-2 ports on other cars I have use it on:

1. Plug scanner in port with engine off.
2. Turn ignition switch to on, but still with the engine off. The scan tool then starts.
3. Push read button; read code.
4. Push erase button if wish to do that, check the screen and select the next option,
like check for readiness for State emissions tests.

^^^^^

if the IGN switch isnt turned to the 'RUN' position(engine OFF, but switch all the way over)---all the lights on the dash panel 'ON'....the scanner wont read the ECU
