Question Noise from Clutch/Flywheel, and weird short shifter problem

Hey guys. I just brought home my 02 WRX wagon (142k miles, 5MT) last night and am starting to diagnose the trouble areas. It has noticeable clutch shudder, but that's not what concerns me.

The car is making this weird noise that comes from right under the throttle body, and appears when I push the clutch in. It sounds similar to an old A/C condenser bearing. It's not constant, sort of like Morse code. Clutch fluid looks good and is at proper level. It was overfilled when I brought it home and leaked down the cylinder. The clutch feels new as I can launch at 142k miles. At some points when you play with the shifter while stopped it sounds like a light grind going into gear. It also happens when in gear and decelerating. Pretty much goes away when accelerating. Can anyone offer some guidance? I've not had tranny problems in my Subarus before. Thanks.

Also, I've just taken out the shifter to test and the noise is still there, no matter what height or angle the fork is at.

Sounds like a throw out bearing and input shaft bearing issue resulting in noise as well as clutch shudder as I research more...
